How to Varnish Oven Bake Clay

To varnish oven-bake clay, first make sure the clay is fully baked and completely cooled. Clean the surface to remove dust, fingerprints, and any residue that could affect the finish.

Apply a thin coat of water-based varnish using a soft brush. Allow it to dry completely before applying additional coats. For a smooth and durable finish, 2–3 thin coats are usually recommended.

Avoid applying thick layers, as they may leave brush marks or create an uneven finish. Once the final coat has dried, the clay piece will have added protection and an enhanced appearance.
