We can’t change our bodies so that fat turns into muscle. Train the shoulders so they get wider than the pelvis. This will make you look more athletic. This makes the body more V-shaped.
Training the back and abdominal muscles that make up the corset around the torso is important because it gives our bodies a stable base from which to move. It also supports the natural curves of the spine, which improves our posture and body shape. Lying rotations are an easy exercise that works well. Lay on your back with your knees and hips bent to 90 degrees and your knees together. With your arms at a 90-degree angle and on the floor, slowly turn your knees towards one of your outstretched hands. Stop just before you reach the hand and do the same thing on the other side.
Form is very important
The most important thing is to train well. Our bodies are designed to avoid pain, so it’s easy to lift weights by using larger muscle groups or momentum. This can be counterproductive because the muscle groups you’re using might not be the ones you’re trying to work on.
One example of this is using the back muscles to create momentum when doing dumbbell or barbell bicep curls by repeatedly bending backward. A much more targeted way to do this exercise is to support the back on a bench or against a wall to keep the natural curves of the spine.
Taking things too far
Stretching will keep tight muscles from making joints lose their range of motion. Yoga, Pilates, and general stretching are all great ways to keep our bodies flexible and fit.
Through the range of motion of each joint, yoga, pilates, and even martial arts teach people how to move in patterns. If movement that is smooth and easy to watch is pleasing to the eye, then there is a lot to be said about developing grace to make things look better.
