The birth of Krishna Bhagwan is said to be divinely orchestrated and played to propagate the true essence of life and guide humankind to lead a holy, peaceful, and righteous life with love and compassion. Krishna Ji is a character that is beyond human comprehension and one who can understand even a bit of his grace would be able to understand the true meaning of life. He primarily promoted the path of Bhakti Marg and spread love to instate Dharma in one’s life as can be seen in Bhagwat Geeta.

Where to Find Krishna Bhagwan’s Stories

It was a predestined oracle that Lord Shree Krishna would come to life as the seventh son of Devaki and end the tyrant and evils of his maternal uncle’s Kans. Being said that was just a part of his role on Earth as the eighth Avatar of Bhagwan Shree Hari Vishnu. If one reads through Krishna's Stories each event has a bigger meaning or objective behind it than it appears on the surface. There are various excerpts of Lord Shree Krishna's life story available in different scriptures like Vishnupuran, Garudpuran, Mahabharat, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, and Dashavtar. Then there are pieces of literature that include Krishna Stories like Krishnacharitam, Shri Krishnakatha, and Shri Krishnasandarbha, many of which are translations and interpretations of Krishna’s Srimad Bhagavad Gita and Mahabharat.

Krishna Ji And Govardhan Parvat Gatha

Several instances took place in Shree Krishna’s life all to incarnate a Leela as it is called that intended to enhance the life experience of people surrounding him and guide them to the right path. Krishna's childhood Stories are filled with lots of mischievous instances but one would still find them heart-melting, as the lord himself enacted with all innocence and selflessness.

Krishna Bhagwan would guide the villagers randomly with his innocent and alluring words, be it daily life, regarding their Dharma and Karma or the ritualistic practices they followed, etc. One such instance is when Brijvasi were preparing for their annual Yagya for Indra Pooja they performed to thank the lord Indra for his grace and rain that helped them sustain life.

When Lord Shri Krishna heard that the grand Yagya is for Indra Dev who provides rain to grow crops and sustenance for life, he argued against the idea. Krishnaji said that if so is the case even Govardhan Parvat helps them by providing fodder for their cattle, and fertile soil, and when the heavy clouds reign over it is stopped by mighty mountains that turn into rain, filling their pounds, and lakes for farming. So, Krishna Bhagwan suggested that why not praise the mighty Govardgan Parvat who was so providing for them. Convinced by the given logic of Krishna, added with his wisdom and divine charm the villagers agreed and started preparing for Govardhangiri Pooja.

These changed acts and devotion of Brijvasi enraged Devindra and he started pouring heavy rains on the villagers which led to major destruction, with no way to save themselves they started to find shelter and praise the lord to save them. At that point, Krishna Bhagwan took his gigantic form and while lord Indra tried to show his mightiness Govardhan Parvat became their abode and savior when Bhagwan Shri Krishna lifted the parvat on his pinky finger. This continued for seven days and seven nights, and Krishna held the mountain as an umbrella for the whole period safeguarding Vrindavan and the residents from the torrential rain.

Indra Dev understood that this was no normal boy but the divine Shri Hari Vishnu himself born in the human avatar, and stopped the rain.

Reason Behind Krishna Story with Govardhan Parvat

Krishna stories tend to have a deep meaning and this leela was orchestrated for the following reasons,

The very first was to make Lord Indra realize his mistake and break his arrogance. As Indradev had become arrogant forgetting that even God has karma, this of Krishna Leela was to remind Devindra of the sameThis is related to the era of Treta Yug when Hanuman tried to take Govardhan to build a bridge from south to Lanka, but it was completed before they could reach the place hence Lord Hanuman left the Parvat on the very spot he heard the news. Later understanding Govardhangiri’s disappointment he blessed him to get close companionship with Shri Ram born in Dwapar yug as Lord Shree Krishna

Lord Shree Krishna has many such miraculous encounters in his life with many humans and gods each portraying a different teaching and lesson for life. So knowing and understanding Krishna's Stories and the hidden meaning behind them would present you with wisdom and help attain meaning in life.
