Metaverse technology is developing faster than ever. It seems to be applicable to many industries, so will metaverse shopping also be the future of retail?
What companies are interested in metaverse shopping?
Actually, there are already some well-known brands that are interested in experimenting with metaverse technology. For example, Walmart has announced that it would be taking on its own metaverse solutions, filing a number of new trademarks in the process. United Colors of Benetton are also following the trend and decided to create a virtual shop in the metaverse for Milano Fashion Week. Other companies that also appear keen on experimenting with metaverse solutions are Samsung, GAP, Adidas, and Under Armour.
How might metaverse shopping alter our shopping experience?
Metaverse shopping would essentially let us forget about buying clothes online and worrying about whether they will fit. Metaverse companies will be able to create 3D virtual stores where people will be able to try on clothes using realistic avatars. Realistic avatars of our own combined with virtual shops will give us a totally immersive shopping experience. More companies might offer both digital and real-world products, meaning we will be able to buy a pair of fancy shoes for our metaverse avatar and get a real one delivered to our door.
At the moment, many companies are simply experimenting, but with great opportunities offered by the metaverse, we should expect to see plenty of exciting ideas for metaverse shopping in the next few years.
