When we talk about ceramics and their strength, we see that ceramics are a type of material that is capable of undergoing extreme temperatures resulting in the production of the designs and details that we desire to have. Although ceramics were invented quite a long time ago however most of us are still not familiar with what ceramics exactly are. keeping in mind the applications of ceramics we see that ceramics are considered one of the strongest known components that are known around now. Ceramics can be seen to be used in all types of products that could be in the form of construction products, scientific products, industrial ceramic products and equipment, cars, vehicles, various other types of equipment, and various other substances.

Nowadays when we talk about the term ceramic it has quite a broad meaning and can be considered as various materials like glass, cement systems, and advanced ceramics as well. There are various different types of ceramics that exist, some of these types are:

1.Glass Ceramics:

This is one of the most common types of ceramic that is made as a result of controlling the process of crystallization. They exhibit the properties like that of glass but with the strength and toughness of a ceramic. These are the types of ceramics that are manufactured with the help and use of state of art which is capable enough to produce material that exhibits properties like zero porosity and durability in the form of mechanical strength, high temperatures biocompatibility, and translucency, these materials also have high durability and resistivity to chemicals and the property of superconductivity.

These ceramics are seen to be used in various products in daily life some of them are in the making of cookware, bakeware, cooktops, scientific and industrial equipment as well as manufacturing medical devices.

2.Fired Bricks:

The fired bricks are the type of bricks that are often made by heating minerals in the same way as we do with the clay and sand is considered a ceramic that is seen to be used commonly in homes. However, when it comes to the properties of these ceramics, they are extensively different as they are different in the composition and manufacturing process as well. However, this type of ceramic is quite tough and thus hard to break, it is heavy and it is capable enough to survive even at high temperatures.

This type of ceramic is seen to be used in chimneys, fireplaces, walls of a well, walls, and various other landscaping solutions as well.

3.Silicon

Silicon is considered to be a very commonly known type of ceramic that is often known around the world for its incredible chemical properties. Ceramic is quite common in an abundant amount as it makes up around 90 percent of the total crust of the earth. Sand and clay are the types of items that are considered the most common types of ceramics that are used ad are based on the soft abide, for example, the silica ceramic is used in order to create the products like fire bricks, kaolinite material, and even for the purpose of making the materials in the form of silicate material that is used in making porcelains and silicate material. In the terms of structure, they are brittle and hard crystalline that is semiconductor as well.

It is commonly seen to be used in various different applications like making solar panels, other semiconductor devices like integrated circuits, and high-quality silicon materials that are used in order to create ceramics, glass, and other aggregates of cement.

4.Silicon Carbide

Another type of cement is known as silicon carbide, this is a high-quality based semiconductor that has both carbon and silicon that occurs in extremely rare sorts of minerals. These types of ceramics are quite tough and full of strength as they are considered hard ceramics, they are the semi-conductors that can take place in almost 250 forms of crystalline.

However, it is a ceramic that is naturally colorless but can be frequently colored by adding some impurities like the addition of iron, this shows lower thermal development.
This type of ceramic is seen to be used in various applications like the tools that are used in the process of cutting, in the furnaces, in the manufacture of brake disks, making abrasives, making heating elements a well as applications like lighting and electrical power systems.

These naturally occurring types of silicon carbide are prized as expensive as any sort of a jewel because it has the same type of appearance and hardness as the diamonds. Thus, it can be considered as an artificial substitute that is harder compared to Zirconia which is often seen to be used in making pieces of jewelry. This ceramic is a good substitute for it.
