While many of us dream of finding a treasure, some fortunate people did actually make it happen.
In the beautiful and tranquil neighborhood of Greenbrae Ridge, Marin County, California, resides a man, an adventurer whose ordinary Saturday morning turned into an extraordinary adventure. Meet Robert Stupack, a lucky man who unexpectedly stumbled upon a discovery that would rewrite history books and capture the imagination of treasure hunters worldwide.
It all began with a brief, heavy morning shower in the summer of 2000 June. As soon as it ended, Robert went outside and began wheeling a lawnmower from the garage to the backyard when he noticed a large, bright green rock that he had never seen before protruding from the ground. Intrigued, out of curiosity, he went down for a closer look when he saw that the unusual rock had arrowhead-like shapes cut out of it, igniting a spark of curiosity that would propel him on an epic quest for more answers.
Despite owning 35 Via Corona on Greenbrae Ridge for fourteen years, Robert was always intrigued by the possibility that his property was once a Coast Miwok Indian village because its vantage point would have allowed them to monitor everything that happened on the bay, marshland, and surrounding hillsides. Later that day, he explored his backyard for signs of a possible Miwok site. Robert noticed large triangular rocks pointing towards a water tank on the hill. Climbing halfway up the hill, he observed a tall, skinny triangle formed by the rocks. Surprised by this discovery, he searched for more potential Miwok artifacts and found numerous small, flat triangular stones resembling arrowheads.
This led Stupack to embark on an investigation, and his backyard became the cornerstone of the journey. He located an image on the internet of Miwok Indians created 1816 and the background of that painting was an exact match to the view from his backyard . Then, Stupack reached out to experts who determined that his property had not been a Miwok village. Undeterred, he believed that there was more to the situation than what could be seen at the surface.
As days turned into weeks, Stupack\'s enthusiasm about a possible treasure under his yard continued to grow.
After all, he had a distinct advantage over all those others who\'d hunted for Drake\'s treasure in the past because nobody would bother him nor question his right to the treasure if that\'s where it turned up.
The true magnitude of his discovery would only become apparent when his excavations uncovered a secret entrance to an underground maze of tunnels created by the English explorer Sir Francis Drake.
Little did he know that the true magnitude of his discovery would only become apparent when his research and investigation led him to the legend of the English explorer Sir Francis Drake and his lost treasure.
