The Pre-Engineered Steel Building Structure (PEBSS)
The steel framework forms the backbone of any PEB, typically accounting for over 80% of the total structural weight. This percentage may vary slightly depending on factors such as mezzanine floors, crane systems, panel types, and additional construction components.
PEB steel structures are generally measured in metric tons (MT). On average, the structure weighs approximately 25 kg per square meter (m²), meaning that one metric ton of steel can cover around 40 m² of built-up area.
The structure itself consists of primary members, secondary members, and standard accessories, all fabricated from high-quality steel. Primary built-up or hot-rolled members usually contribute to more than 90% of the frame weight, while the remaining portion includes hot-rolled sections and supporting elements.
Secondary members—such as roof and wall supports—are typically formed from galvanized steel, either roll-formed or press-shaped. These are available in various thicknesses, including 1.5 mm, 1.75 mm, 2.2 mm, 2.25 mm, and 2.5 mm, ensuring flexibility for different structural requirements.
