Useful Tips for Choosing the Right Type of Motorcycle Tyres

Tyre is a very important component of any vehicle and even more so, when we talk about a two wheeler such as a motorcycle. The modern motorbikes with powerful engines and advanced features also require a good set of tyres to deliver optimum performance. The quality of tyres not only determines the quality of ride, but it is also directly associated with ride safety. So, you may understand how important it is to choose the right set of tires for your motorbike. One cannot afford to cut corners on this and continue with unsuitable or worn out set of tires on their motorbike, as by doing this they compromise their own and other people’s safety on the road.

Today, there are many different types of motorcycle tyres available in the market. The customer has to keep in mind certain things while choosing the most appropriate tires for his bike. Here, we are listing for you some useful tips for choosing the right type of motorcycle tyres:

Recently Manufactured

While purchasing the motorbike tires you should see that they are not manufactured long time back. The tires should have a recent manufacturing date, not older than six months, because the older tires stiffen with time, which may impair their quality and performance.

Matching ride requirement

The tyres that you purchase for your motorcycle must be according to your ride requirement. That is to say, there is a different tyre appropriate for different terrains. You need to decide the tyre type depending upon whether you want to drive more on highways, city, or off-road.

Matching bike type

The set of tires for your bike must be appropriate for your vehicle type. A different size and type of tire is recommended by the bike manufacturers for different models; so you should take care of these recommendations while choosing a set of tires.

Front & Rear factor

Unlike cars, the front and rear tyres of motorbikes are quite different from each other. This is due to the different functions of these tyres. While the front tyre has to perform functions such as providing stability, shock absorption, instant braking, and convenient turning, the rear one takes the weight and provides enough traction for good acceleration.

Matching special requirement

There might be a special requirement of a rider to drive a bike on the racing tracks or mostly riding the bike on rough terrains or wet roads; for such requirements, the tires need to be sturdy and puncture-resistant, and provide good grip (non-slippery), good stability, and good braking capability.

Apart from the above points, you need to keep a watch on your motorbike tyres and occasionally check them for signs of wear and tear. You should also check the air-pressure in the tire at least once a week. The right air pressure increases the life of tire and also saves fuel.

There are many motorbike tyre manufacturers and automotive tube manufacturers in India. While purchasing any of these company’s products, you should see that the company is an established one, and its tires and tubes are certified for quality.
