So, like a handful of countries in the EU, Great Britain are looking at taking on a new initiative that means all owners of zero-emission, electric cars will have the privilege of owning and displaying green number plates, a tip of the hat to their effort to create a positive impact on the pollution levels that damage the atmosphere. But, will this actually work?
Number1Plates write that ‘Chris Grayling stated that, “Adding a green badge of honour to these new clean vehicles is a brilliant way of helping increase awareness of their growing popularity in the UK, and might just encourage people to think about how one could fit into their own travel routine”.'
The government believe that being able to display this, along with added incentives for these drivers will push more and more people to purchase ‘green' vehicles. The question is though, when will the novelty wear thin. The incentives would include being able to use bus lanes in the same way the taxis are able to also. This sounds like a brilliant idea, though has it been considered that by the year 2040 (possibly being brought forward to 2030) no diesel or petrol cars will be sold, meaning the the amount of electric cars on the roads will multiply in a huge way. This will dilute the incentive and make it a normal driving experience for most drivers on the road.
