What influences the Google Storage Limit?
Before learning how to check Google data quotas, it’s helpful to understand what’s and what’s not.
GMAIL ACCOUNT
Although each email message has a small data footprint, you are likely to have a large number of emails in your account. Furthermore, some communications contain attachments that consume additional storage space.
These issues pile up for any email provider, but especially for Gmail. Because Google makes it easy to archive rather than delete emails, messages you thought you deleted may have been stored and are taking up space.
GOOGLE DRIVE
Everything you save in Google Drive, including downloads, documents, spreadsheets, and other files, counts toward your 15 GB limit. This implies that all of your Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms and Jamboard files count against your 15 GB of free storage.
GOOGLE PHOTOS
Before June 20, 2021, Google offered unlimited storage of “High-Quality” photographs (now called the “Storage Saver” tier). Currently, any images you save, regardless of quality or size, go toward your free 15 GB storage allowance. Instead of keeping your photos in their original, uncompressed version, choose “Storage Saver” to save space.

- Select “Manage your Google Account” from the account icon in the top right corner.
- “Account storage” can be found by scrolling down. This will show you the memory you have used. You may also choose “Manage storage” to see how Gmail, Photos, and Google Drive are divided up.

- On your phone, go to Google and tap the account symbol.
