The new Mitsubishi Triton 2019, which was launched in Bangkok, is here after being previewed at KLIMS 2018, and five variants will be available.

The highest specification Triton Adventure X is priced at RM135,200, followed by Triton AT Premium at RM118,600, Triton MT Premium at RM112,500, Triton AT at RM105,990 and Triton MT at RM100 ,200.

The new Mitsubishi Triton is imported from Thailand as a CBU vehicle. It is the only pickup truck in Malaysia (2.4L category) and has a 5-year/200,000km warranty, whichever comes first.

In terms of performance, the new Triton is equipped with the same 2.4-liter MIVEC VGT engine with a power of 181 hp and a torque of 430 Nm.

In terms of gearbox, Triton has a new 6-speed automatic gearbox instead of the previous 5-speed gearbox, resulting in smoother and more refined acceleration, which is what we experienced in Bangkok.

Although the previous Triton models have proven that pickups can be very comfortable, the new model uses a larger diameter rear shock absorber to provide better ride comfort and reduce body roll. In terms of braking, Triton now uses larger front disc brakes, supplemented by larger brake calipers.

So far, the biggest change in the new Triton is the appearance. Now, it uses the Dynamic Shield design language, which will be applied to future Mitsubishi models. The high-spec models use Bi-LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, while the fog lights are halogen.

Now, the headlights themselves are located higher-700 mm above the ground-so they will not be submerged and will not fail even if there is a flood. Now its wheel arches are visibly opened, making the new Triton more “muscular.”

As for the size, the new Triton is 10mm longer than its predecessor and 15kg lighter-not that we care, because it looks so attractive.

Inside, the interior design of the new Triton retains similarities to a large extent, with some minor adjustments. There is a new switch device, the touch on the door panel is soft, and the knees are more obvious.

So far, the coolest thing is that the rear vent with fan speed control must be installed on the “ceiling” of the new Triton. Behind the armrest, you will find a large tray with two USB ports. In total, the new Triton comes with four USB ports.

Triton's driver assistance system has also received a major upgrade. Although the old model only has functions such as active stability control and traction control, the new Triton now has a forward collision mitigation (FCM) function with a maximum speed of 60 km/h, blind spot warning, lane change assistance, and rear crossover Intersection Alert (RCTA).

It is also equipped with Hill Descent Control and an ultrasonic stall mitigation system. The maximum working distance of the system is four meters (front and rear), which fundamentally ensures that you will not accidentally reverse or hit a wall or drive.

The top Adventure X models also provide automatic high beam function, and seven airbags. The remaining models will receive two airbags with ISOFIX standards across the board.
