When Porsche 911(992) first launched, there was no manual transmission in any country in the world. In part, this is a sign that manual transmission is out of the mainstream. Less than a year later, however, Porsche announced that it was offering a manual transmission option to buy the in the U.S. Currently in Europe, the 911 Carrera S has also added the manual option in a series of updates.
Now in The European market, the manual options for the 911 Carrera S and 4S don't need to be added to the price. But the Carrera base model is only available with the Porsche Doppel Kupplung, as is the case in the US.
Seven-speed manual models include other features, such as tyre temperature monitoring, Porsche Torque Vectoring, Dynamic Drivetrain Mounts, Porsche Stability Management Sport Mode, and so on.The manual 911 Carrera S can reach 100kph in 4.2 seconds. It has a maximum speed of 308km/h. Compared with the dual clutch, the manual gear will weigh less, at 1480kg.
Porsche also recently introduced the Porsche InnoDrive feature. It's actually an upgraded adaptive cruise system, but only dual-clutch gearboxes are available. This is because the function works by using navigation data to control the engine, transmission and car brakes. It also includes speed control on special driving roads such as curves and slopes. So the manual transmission doesn't have this feature.
All 911 models have the Smartlift smart front end function, which can change the height of the car's front suspension according to driving needs to improve the passability. Not only does it raise the front end of the car by 40mm through electro-hydraulic devices to allow it to pass through speed bumps and slopes, but it also records the address via GPS so that the next time the car passes this marker, the front end of the car will be raised automatically, eliminating manual operation.
All the Windows of the 911 sports car are soundproof glass and are 4 kg lighter than normal glass.
