Paver installation is a work of professional experts. You need to talk to professional paving contractors in Alameda to get the job done. The installation process involves a whole lot of steps, each one being extremely important. Overlooking even a single step can result in disrupting the entire process.
Here, we shall be focusing at a step by step process to paver installation.
- Preparing the area for installation
This process involves 5 sub processes. Have a look:
- Pre demolition
- Demolition and excavation
- Grading
- Sub-base compaction
- Geo-textile fabric installation
Pre-demolition stage involves inspecting the area where the pavers will be installed. Taking measurement of the exact area and marking the same, cleaning the place, and defining safety measures happen in this stage.
Demolition and excavation stage involves removing the bushes ad weeds from the surface that needs to be excavated. Once done, the excavation process will start. If you are planning for a pedestrian walkway, excavation depth will be around seven to eight inches. For commercial vehicle driveway purpose, excavation depth will be around 11-12 inches. For driveways, excavation depth will be in the range of 8-9 inches.
Next, you need to focus on the grading to create a slope of 2%. This will ensure a suitable water drainage which is a very crucial factor. This is followed by sub-base compaction. Stronger sub-base improves the end result of paver installation process. It will ensure non existence of air gaps in the pavers.
Always opt for geo-textile fabric. If your area is strongly exposed to clay soil, use of geo-textile fabric will help in protecting the foundation from the soil.
- The foundation placement
This process involves 2 steps. Have a look:
- Road base preparation
- Sand pouring and screed
Once the area is prepped properly, focus should be given on the foundation placement. It is time to pour the road base in the marked area. Make sure to compact before pouring again. Each level should be compacted individually since it will prevent chances of leaving any air gaps in between.
Next, place PVC pipes of one inche length over the road base. Now pour bedding sand over the base. This will strengthen the part. Now, use the rake for sand leveling purpose. Then, screed the sand to ensure depth of around one inch. Make sure the leveling is perfect before anything else.
- Paver laying process
The time has come to lay down the pavers. Irrespective of the paver pattern you have chosen, start the laying process. The laying should be done using a straight down approach. Never slide them as it can disrupt the sand bed.
