Adequate sensory processing is necessary for the development of an accurate body in space awareness or body scheme. M-Fun Assessment motor planning is the ability to plan, organize, and execute a complex or new activity. Bilateral coordination is the ability to use the two sides of our body together in a coordinated manner. It allows us to cross the midline of our body, coordinate and sequence movements such as throwing a ball, and learning a step dance, or karate step. Games like Simon Says and sports like karate, gymnastics, and swimming can help improve these skills. Children who do not crawl or briefly crawl before walking have more difficulty integrating the two sides of the body with ease, impacting their coordination, timing, and fluidity of bilateral motor movements.
