Trekking Spots:

Kudremukh trek

The Kudremukh trek is 22 kms. trek to and from the third highest peak of Karnataka. The scenic beauty of Western ghat is very nicely witnessed during the trek. You have to pass through the forests, waterfalls, bamboo shrubbery and at the end to the peak you can take photographs of clouds descending the hills. Distance from Bangalore is 332 kms. It is a medium difficult trek and time to visit is from October to February.

 

Gokarna Beach trek

Gokarna is a popular pilgrimage, located 480 kms. from Bangalore. It is a small town in the northwest side of Bangalore. This is the starting point of Gokarna beach trail which includes ways through some of the sandy beaches of Arabean sea on one side and rocky hills connecting each other on the other side. It is also known as “Golden Route”. The beaches that include this trail are Kudle Beach, Crescent beach,  Om beach and Paradise beach, the end point.  

Kumara Parvatha Trek

Kumara Parvatha is the 6th highest peak in Karnataka and highest peak of Pushpagiri wildlife sanctuary. This trek is a very challenging and toughest trek, which takes almost 2 days to reach the peak. The height is 4000 feet and has to cover 13 km. distance during the trek. Distance from Bangalore to Kumara Parvatha is 283 kms. and is situated in Subrahmanya Village. The most exciting part of the trek is other than photography and camping you can stay in caves also. 

 

Tadiandamol Trek 

The 2nd highest mountain peak in Karnataka at Coorg district is Tadiandamol. The height is 1748 meters from sea level. Distance from Bangalore is 268 kms. and the best trekking place for the beginners. You can spend ample time with a natural panoramic view. Other than trekking you can visit Kabbe hills, Igguthappa temple and Chelavara falls.

 

Madhugiri 

Madhugiri is the least explored trekking place and well known for 2nd largest monolithic rock. On the way, The Madhugiri fort can be visited, which was built by Hyder Ali. Honey bees colonies infested the fort just after it was built. Difficulty level of this trek is moderate but the first spell of trekking is a bit challenging at some stretches.  There is an architectural temple of Gopalakrishna on the peak. Distance from Bangalore is 100 kms. 

 

Bheemeshwari

A small town in Mandya district is popular to the fishing enthusiasts. Mahseer fishes are known as game fish in the world. Home of this fish is Bheemeshwari. 

At a distance of 9.9 kms. from  Bangalore this place is famous for its flora and fauna. Activities like boating, camping and trekking are also popular. Bheemeshwari wildlife sanctuary is home to animals like leopards, wild boars, crocodiles and a wide range of birds. The natural beauty made this place like paradise.

 

Bidarakatte Trek

A very uncommon place just 60 kms. from  Bangalore in the Tumkur district. For this trek an online ticket is required from the Karnataka forest department as the trek passes through the forest. The starting point of the easy to moderate trek is the tree park and it ends at Doddarebylu. June to September is the best time to visit, because rain gives the forest a fresh green look. Main attraction of the trek is yellow throated Bulbul. Birds and butterflies can also be noticed.

Kaivara Betta Trek

Kaivara is situated in a small village Chikballapur, about 65 kms. From Bangalore. It is a historical site with many temples and popular for poet Sri Yogi Kaiwara Narayana Taatha. There is a small Zoo with few animals and a fort. The starting point of this trek is from Kaivara tapovan and it is a bit rough and difficult trek.  Time taken for this trek may be 2-3 hrs. Visiting time from December to March is advisabel because it receives heavy rainfall during monsson. 

 

Revana Siddeshwara Betta Trek

The short name of this place is SRS. Distance from Bangalore is about 70 kms.  This place is ideal for trekking and some water sports. It comprises a huge barren landscape with rocks. You can climb on the rocky terrain to reach the top. Mostly people visit this place for kayaking because rock climbing is a difficult job here. An early morning plan is suggested to witness a magical sunrise. Trek elevation is 3066 ft. and trek time is 1.5 hrs.

 

Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta Trek 

It is also known as BR hills. This trek is similar to Kodachadri trek. It is located 70 kms. South of Bangalore. This trek is through the forest to the top of the rock area. Huge numbers of elephants are found here and some of them can be sighted during trekking.To reach the top an hour time  will be taken. After reaching the top the other big hill will be seen named Rangaswamy Betta.  During monsoon rocks can be slippery and trails can be muddy. So, the best  time to visit is from August to January.

 

Kabbaladurga Trek

To take a break from your prison life, you can go to a place of prison for trekking. This place is used as a prison by the Mysore rulers and the British also. Distance from Bangalore to Kanakapura is 80 kms. and  from Kanakapura to Santhanur is 20 kms. This trek belongs to four main stretches – Initial stretch, Three-point stretch, Viper stretch and final stretch. Some ruined temples are at the top and a peaceful atmosphere will cool down the tiredness of the trek.

 

Channarayana Durga  

This fort witnessed several battles during the medieval period for its possession. It is in the Tumkur district which is about 100 kms. from Bangalore. It is an ideal place for rock climbing and it will give you a complete package of witnessing historical heritage with rich architectural structure. Public transport is not available directly to reach this fort. From Tumkur station you have to take an auto or you can reach by your own vehicle.  September to December is suggested visiting time and trek elevation is 1188 meters.

 

Anthargange Trek

Anthargange is situated in a small town  at a distance of 70 kms. From Bangalore. Gold fields made this place renowned and now it is known as KGF. It is a religious place  as well as an adventure place with caves and natural beauty. The temple of Sri Kashi Vishweshwara made this place “The Kashi of south”.  The trek is for an hour and starts from the temple. Carrying bags and snacks may attract monkeys. & villages are surrounding this mountain of 4021 ft. For an amazing Sunrise picture you can start early morning trekking. Best trekking time – January to June.

 

Kunti Betta trek

Pandavas in Mahabharata  ended their 14 year long journey at Pandavapura. Kunti Betta is situated in Pandavapura, 130 kms. From Bangalore. It is in the district of Mandya and called “Sugar city”.  An eye-catching sunrise can make your day if you reach the top early in the morning. There is a small trail reaching towards Thonnur lake. The trek is moderate to difficult level and visiting time is from October to March.

 

Nandi Hills Trek

Nandidurga or Nandi hill is located at an altitude of 1478 mtrs. and  60 kms. from  Bangalore.  To reach Tipu Sultan's summer palace you have to climb up 1200 steps on the top. The surrounding views of hills and Amrita Sarovar made this place most photogenic. There is a famous rock named Tipu’s Drop as another attraction. Climbing is easy to moderate .
