Riding a skateboard is fun and anyone who has tried it can attest to this. It can make an otherwise long boring walk fun and enjoyable, and you will most definitely get to your destination much faster. Skateboards are not cheap and once you have invested in one, you need to take good care of it. Many skateboard enthusiasts actually refer to them as their babies; that are how much they value their boards. This article highlights a few tips on taking good care of your skateboard so that it can serve you well for longer without you having to keep replacing parts.

  • Keep it indoors

The most obvious reason for this is that in most neighborhoods, if you leave anything of value outside, it will get stolen. You can almost be sure of that. If you do find something you left outside intact, you have your lucky stars to thank for that. However, you will not always be lucky and if you make it a habit, you will lose your skateboard sooner than later. The other reason why you should keep your skateboard indoors is because it can easily get damaged by the elements. You probably know that the deck is made of wood. If it is rained on, the water will make the wood warp. Even if you live in a place where it does not rain often, your skateboard can absorb moisture from the air, causing the wood to warp. In an arid place, dust can settle onto your board and get into the wheel bearings. This will affect the functioning of your Shark Wheel longboard wheels and you therefore won't enjoy your riding experience as much.

  • Take good care of the wheel bearings

These are the most important part of your skateboard and if they are not in good condition, you can be sure that you will not enjoy your ride one bit. You should clean them regularly to avoid buildup of dirt, which can affect their functioning. You do not always have to remove your bearings whenever you want to clean them. You can clean them when they are still on the board. However, once in a while, it is important to remove them and give them a thorough clean. Be careful when choosing the products to use to clean your wheel bearings as some substances can damage them. Read the manufacturer's instructions so that you can be sure that you are doing right thing. Do not clean them a certain way just because your friend does it that way. Remember, skateboards are different, and this is why you need to know what works for yours.

  • Replace parts when they get worn out

This is bound to happen at some point. If your wheels have flat spots, replace them as riding your board this way is dangerous. If the deck has stress fractures, you should replace it. Every time you have an accident, like slamming into a pavement, you should carefully inspect your skateboard to see how much damage has been done. If any parts need to be replaced, do so as soon as possible.
