Absolute Pets Review: Is It Worth the Price?

Why Absolute Pets Is Winning the Hearts of South African Pet Lovers

You know that feeling when you walk into a pet store and your furry friend gives you that look — like, “Hooman, I deserve everything here”?

For most South Africans, that moment happens at Absolute Pets. It’s the place where love, guilt, and premium indulgence all come together in one bright, treat-filled aisle.

But the real question is: Is Absolute Pets truly the gold standard of pet care, or just a fancy pet store wrapped in clever branding?

We asked pet parents across South Africa what they honestly think — and their answers tell a surprisingly consistent story.

Premium or Just Pricey?

When people hear the name Absolute Pets, the automatic response is usually confidence.

A strong 65.2% of pet owners associate the brand with premium pet care, the kind that makes you wonder why your dog’s shampoo suddenly costs more than your own.

Another 16.1% say the brand reminds them of pricey treats, while 14.8% love the cute store aesthetic. Only a tiny 3.9% believe it’s overhyped.

What does that tell us?

South Africans are fully aware of branding, but they don’t mind buying into it when it feels good. Absolute Pets has positioned itself as the pet store where you become the “best version” of a pet parent, and clearly, people are here for it.

Who’s the Real VIP — You or Your Pet?

We asked shoppers whether splurging at Absolute Pets makes them feel like they’re spoiling their pet — or their own ego.

A wholesome 57.1% said it’s entirely for their pets, proving that pampering animals is no longer seen as indulgent. It’s considered love. It’s bonding. It’s self-care through your pet.

And the pets themselves? They seem to approve.

48.2% of owners said their pets love Absolute Pets products, and 35.2% said they like some of them. Only a small group — 16% combined — felt their pets were unimpressed.

So while humans debate prices, the animals have already voted with wagging tails and empty bowls.

Loyalty That Feels Personal

Absolute Pets has also mastered something many pet stores struggle with: emotional loyalty.

Here’s why customers keep returning:

  • 41% say they come back for the quality.
  • 29% love the warm, pet-friendly environment.
  • 14% appreciate the loyalty rewards.

And here’s the big number: 61% would recommend Absolute Pets to other pet parents.

Over 80% of shoppers even believe Absolute Pets outshines their local pet stores — whether it’s the cozy ambience, helpful staff, or curated product selection. It’s not just shopping; it’s an experience.

The Price Tag Debate

Let’s be honest — price does matter.

41.8% of shoppers said price is their main hesitation.

But interestingly, 30.2% said nothing makes them hesitate at all because they simply love the brand.

Sure, you can find cheaper kibble elsewhere. But that “elsewhere” may not give you the same confidence, cleanliness, or quality reassurance.

In a world where oat milk is becoming normal, maybe paying extra for premium kibble isn’t that dramatic anymore.

And importantly, 35.7% believe Absolute Pets genuinely offers high-quality products, not just pretty packaging.

The Online Shopping Experience

Absolute Pets isn’t just a brick-and-mortar pet store. Its online platform has won hearts too.

  • 43.5% are very satisfied with their online shopping experience.
  • Only 1.7% were disappointed.

Smooth navigation, home delivery, easy browsing, and cute product visuals make online shopping feel like scrolling through your pet’s wishlist — except you’re the one paying for it.

More Than a Pet Store — It’s a Community

Pet parenting has evolved in South Africa, and visiting a pet store now goes far beyond picking up basic essentials — it’s about embracing a lifestyle built on love, thoughtful care, and a touch of luxury for every furry family member.

Absolute Pets captures that evolution perfectly.

It’s not just a pet store.

  • Golden retrievers get treats for being adorable.
  • Cats receive toys they’ll likely ignore — but we buy anyway.
  • Every purchase feels like saying, “You’re my favorite family member.”

That emotional connection, combined with trusted quality, is what truly sets Absolute Pets apart.

So is Absolute Pets just “pawsh,” or is it purposeful?

It’s both — but in the best way possible.
