The Amer Fort in Jaipur, also known as Amber Fort, is situated in the Amer Town of Rajasthan, about 11 kilometers from Jaipur, the state capital of Rajasthan, and offers stunning views of the Maota Lake. Raja Man Singh, I constructed the Amer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on top of a tall hill, and it is today one of the top tourist destinations in Rajasthan's Jaipur region. Amba, the Mother Goddess, is where the name Amber or Amer comes from. The Amer Fort is renowned for its Hindu-style artworks, which are displayed along its wide ramps, cobblestone pathways, and a series of several gates. History of Amer Fort's
Amber, also known as Amer, is a city in Rajasthan that is currently a part of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation.
The Meena Raja Alan Singh Amer or Amber served as the Kachwahas' capital up until 1727, when Amer Sawai Jai Singh II established a new palace and the new city that bears his name, Jaipur.
The contemporary city of Jaipur replaced the capital of the Kachwahas. The Amber Fort, a popular tourist destination in Jaipur, draws visitors to Amber.
The Amer Fort Architecture
The fort appears stony from the outside, but when you get inside, you'll find spacious halls, palaces with elaborate designs, stunning temples, and lush, green gardens.
The fort's building is a flawless fusion of Mughal and Hindu design. The interiors are exquisitely embellished with woodwork, paintings, and mirrorwork.
Red sandstone and marble were used to construct the fort's complex, which includes the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), also known as Jai Mandir or the “Hall of Public Audience,” the Diwan-e-Khas, or the “Hall of Private Audience,” and the Sukh Niwas.
Every day, 4000-5000 tourists are estimated to come to this magnificent fort. In 2005, it was stated that there were around 80 elephants residing on the Fort property.

The Mirza Raja Jai Singh-built Diwan-E-Aam is a hall that is thought to be for public audiences and is next to the Machchhi Bhawan.
The hall is exquisitely constructed, with magnificent glass mosaics and sculpted pillars. Beautiful carvings and valuable stones are embedded in the forty pillars that support the room.
Sukh Nivas is directly across from the Diwan-E-Aam, which has sandalwood and ivory-decorated doors.
The magnificently constructed Diwan E Aam, which features doors made of sandalwood, is right next to Sukh Niwas.
According to legend, the monarch liked to visit his queens there, which is why the area is known as Sukh Niwas, meaning a location for pleasure.
Another well-known site in the Amer fort is the Sheesh Mahal, which contains several mirrors.
The design of this hall ensures that even the smallest amount of light that enters the Mahal will be reflected in the mirrors, illuminating the whole space and providing natural lighting.
One candle, it is stated, will illuminate the entire hall.

The most well-known activity in Amer Fort is an elephant ride, which is taken from below through Amer's little Sun Gate.
The greatest way to experience Amber Fort like a king is to go on an elephant ride.

Interesting Amer Fort Facts
Although Raja Man Singh I erected the Amber fort, Raja Jai Singh I, one of his descendants, significantly extended it.
The fort underwent numerous additions after Raja Jai Singh-reign I's during the course of the following 150 years, thanks to the subsequent kings of this region.
The town of Amer is thought to have been founded by the Rajasthani “Meena” tribe before the Rajputs arrived as a shrine to the goddess Amba, therefore the names AMER or AMBER.
Things to Think About
Every year, the Amber Fort is closed on the day of the Holi Festival.
