In 2020 Krasinski created and hosted the Some Good News on YouTube, which premiered on 29 March 2020. However, just after eight episodes, the rights of the show were sold to ViacomCBS on 22 May 2020. It was originally hosted for YouTube and entirely dedicated to “good news.” Krasinski operates the show inside his home during the COVID-19 pandemic. In every episode, he invites guests and discusses several feel-good stories with them.

He was nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay and Critics’ Choice Movie Award to direct and write the horror thriller movie A Quiet Place. The movie was critically acclaimed at the box office. Krasinski also directed the sequel of the movie named A Quiet Place II. The second installment of the movie was originally set for a 2020 release; however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the release date is delayed for 2021.
2020 is very challenging for the whole world. Hence Krasinski tried to create a show in an attempt to brighten people’s mood and spirit with a series of talk shows, Some Good News. The show includes a spotlight on positive stories. It has featured many high-profile guests, including Hamilton, Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, Malala Yousafzai, Steven Spielberg, Jon Stewart, and the actor’s co-stars from the sitcom The Office. Krasinski sold the rights to the talk show Some Good News to CBS in May intending to grow the show into a TV series, and the actor faced many controversies from fans because of the step.
On the day of its debut on 29 March 2020 on YouTube, it accumulated 330,000 subscribers overnight. And the show got 12 million views by 5 April 2020. The channel reached 2.58 million subscribers and 72 million views within the period of eight weeks. At the 2020 Webby Awards, Some Good News received a Special Achievement Award.
After almost seven months, Krasinski hosted the new episode of the show, a Holiday Special, with Dwayne Johnson. The show started with usual segments, initially some fan art appreciation and then some actual news stories.
The news started with Samanta’s story, who is going through treatment for cancer and is not allowed to have guests let alone a party. Still, the nursing staffs’ sweet gesture drew the show’s attention. And the series of news in the second segment ended with the most relieving news of delivering the COVID-19 vaccine.
Later in the last segment, he invited Jay Abel and dedicated the episode to him. Abel sold his favorite pieces of stuff on eBay so that his children can have a cheerful festive season. And the heart-warming gesture caught Krasinski’s attention. The host also brought the Santa of the episode, Dwayne Johnson, as “Dwanta Claus,” who has plenty of surprises for the “Super Dad.”
You can watch the whole episode on YouTube on the official channel Some Good News.
Johnson is a generous man, and he poured all of the viewers’ hearts with love. The actor-wrestler promised that he would buy Abel’s children’s Christmas presents. He also promised Abel to take him to the DC Universe, California. Johnson also said that he would gift the super dad his original Black Adam script, he bound the script with leather, embossed the cover with the logo of the film, BLACK ADAM, and signed it. Abel seems a genuine man, and he deserves all kinds of appreciation and warmth for it, especially in between the pandemic. The spotlight was the best part of Krasinski’s show. The year 2020 is undoubtedly different for many people, and it is hard to keep the spirit up. The show reminded us that the world still has love and generosity. Both the actor Johnson and Krasinski did a wonderful job with the show that has brightened up the audience’s spirit.
