I attempted to access a website earlier today and received an error message that said “could not establish a secure connection.” I was attempting to access my favourite website (I won't say what it is; have fun guessing)… and the error threw everything off. The problem occurred on an Android device, and the programme was Google Chrome. It made me realise that I'm probably not the only one who's had this problem, so I decided to write about it.

Why does this error occur?

I stand by my statement (which has become my signature at this point, I say it in every article). Before we begin to correct this issue, we must first comprehend why it occurs. Both Google Chrome and Safari are affected by the factors listed below.

To be honest, the specific explanation is uncertain and depends on a variety of factors. But it's most likely one of the following:

1.   Bad server/website

A website's backbone is the server, and if something goes wrong with it, the website will not load. This error could be caused by a poor server or a server that is under stress. Our website, for example, loads quickly because it is hosted on a reliable server.

You can get a multitude of errors if something is wrong with the server, and one of them is “couldn't create a secure connection.”

This error may also arise as a result of websites failing to meet cryptographic standards imposed by device manufacturers.

2.   Improper browser settings

Your browser, whether it's Chrome or Safari, determines how you interact with the internet. Improper browser settings can wreak havoc on your internet experience.

But don't worry, I'll tell you what's causing it and how to turn it off in your browser settings.

How to fix couldn’t establish a secure connection on Android?

Here is how to fix the error on Android:

1.    Turn Airplane mode on and off

This may appear to be a joke, but I can't tell you how many times it has come in handy for me! I'm serious about this. Your sim is turned off and you are cut off from the network when you turn on aeroplane mode. You are once again connected to the network when you switch it off.

2.   Force close your browser

When you force close an app, Android shuts off all of the program's processes and services. When you reopen the app, it will begin from the beginning (don't worry, no data will be lost). This genuinely resolves a large number of issues. When an app lags or crashes, one of my first impulses is to force close and reopen it – and it usually works.

Can’t establish a secure connection to the server Android?

Try connecting to a private WiFi network to see whether the Android problem has been resolved. If you have an antivirus or security app installed on your Android phone, turn it off for a while and then try browsing again. These apps can sometimes cause the SSL connection to fail by interfering with your browser.

Secure connection cannot be established

When a website that requires a secure (https) connection tries to secure communication with your computer, Firefox double-checks the certificate and connection mechanism to ensure that they are both secure. A Secure Connection Failed or Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue error page will appear if Firefox is unable to establish a secure connection.
