Complete Document Checklist for Australian Child Visa Application in 2024
Collecting documents for Australian Child Visa applications, especially for the 101 visas and 802 visas, is a great challenge. Most of the time, proving your child’s identity and your right to sponsor your child is not enough to satisfy the Department of Home Affairs.

Document for Australian Child Visa Applicants
The child visa applicants are required to submit some documents, including but not limited to:
- Identity documents – it includes identity documents issued by the government
- Travel document
- Completed Form 47CH
- Passport-sized photograph with details:
- 45mm x 35mm
- Should be taken less than 6 months
- Good quality color.
- A full-face review of your head and shoulders
- Taken with a plain light-colored background.
- Can wear glasses and head covering for religious reasons.
Document for Australian Child Visa Sponsor
- Identity documents – it includes identity documents issued by the Australian Government or your home country’s Government
- Evidence of Australian citizenship or permanent residency status
- Completed Form 40CH
Evidence of Dependency on Parents
This is the crucial one. You must show genuine evidence that your child is dependent on you.
- Evidence of financial support for your child
- Evidence of your child’s school enrollment
- Evidence that your child is physically disabled to support themselves
- Evidence of family relationship
Character and Health Document
If your child is above 16 years old, your child will be required to provide a Police Clearance Certificate from their home country and other country where they have lived for more than 12 months.

Regarding the health document, the Department of Home Affairs usually requests your child to undergo a health examination. Your child must complete it and the result will be sent directly to the Department of Home Affairs.
What if My Child is Onshore?
There is a slight additional required document for the Australian Child Visa application, specifically for the 802 visa. Your child must show their valid substantive visa at the time of visa lodgment. Your child must also show their genuine dependency on you.
What if My Child Offshore?
The required document for the Australian Child Visa application, specifically for the 101 visa, will remain the same. Additional documents are necessary only if your child has specific circumstances.
Are there more Documents for the Australian Child Visa Application?
It depends on your and your child’s circumstances. For example, if your child ever got a visa application refused or canceled, or overstayed in any country, then further documents to explain this matter will be required. It also depends on whether you are going to lodge the 101 visa or 802 visa application.
