Sometimes when we try to access any webpage, browsers show No internet access even though the system is connected to WiFi. So here you will find some important methods to fix wifi connected but no internet access.

This problem is very disturbing and may get in the middle of an important work. So we need to fix this and make sure it never appears again. If you face this problem in that case you don’t have to worry. You have to just follow some fixing methods.

The issues can be in Software part or may be in Modem or Routers. So here we need to try the solutions from basics (easy ones).

How to find out where is the main problem

To check if it’s a hardware or a software issue. At first, you need to do is connect other devices like a computer or mobile to the same WiFi. And check if that works properly, if not then it might be the Modem/Router issue. Or if it works on other devices then the issue is with the particular system.

Fix WiFi Connected But No Internet Access

Now that you know what is the problem that is causing the error, it’s the time to fix it. Follow the steps carefully. I assume that you have already done the reboot because it’s the universal method to fix any issue. Sometimes it emerges as the effective methods. So if you haven’t followed the reboot process, I will say try it once.

Case 1: Device Issue

1) Update WiFi Drivers

Outdated Drivers can also cause this problem because they may not support the connected WiFi bandwidth and other stats. So the first thing to follow is to update the network drivers.

How to Update Driver

Right-Click on Start (Windows icon) and open Device Manager. Or search device manager in desktop search and open it.
In Device Manager expand Network Adapters.
And now Click on update driver through which you are connected to WiFi.
Then click on search automatically for updated driver software.
It will search for drivers online and update it if any update available.
Do this for all the network adapters.

Now disconnect the WiFi and reconnect. And see if it works. If not try out other methods.

2) Flush DNS Cache

Flushing DNS cache helps to fix not only “WiFi Connected But No Internet Access” but also other problems like DNS probe finished no internet, Server address could not be found and others. So this might be the shot worth taking. Too many DNS cache causes conflict and leads to the error.

How to Flush DNS cache

Search CMD in Desktop search bar and open it as an administrator.
Now Type ipconfig /flushdns in command prompt and hit enter.
Then it will show a message that flushing DNS cache successful or something like that.
It means now you can go and check if the internet works or not.

3) Turn off Proxy servers

Sometimes when we access the internet and forcefully led to some sites or ads which brings the virus. This virus generates a proxy address of its own and this causes no internet access.

How to Turn off Proxy Server

Go to settings.
And open Network & Internet settings.
Now in Network & Internet go to Proxy.
Now you will see that manual proxy is turned on.
Turn off the manual proxy server and save it.

Also, do this

Search for Internet Options in the search bar and open it.
Internet properties will open.
Now go to the connections tab.
In connections tab open LAN settings.
Under LAN settings you will find Proxy Server section. Uncheck use a proxy server for your LAN.
Click OK.

When I encountered this error this method worked for me. So try this one out maybe it can also fix WiFi connected but no internet problem in your case too.

4) Disable Antivirus

Have you ever thought that Antivirus can cause any possible problems? No, I also never even think of this, but I found that Antivirus can also cause this type of problems. So if you have any Antivirus then Disable it.

After disabling the Antivirus again connect to WiFi and check that if the problem is solved or not. If not then you can turn on the Antivirus.

Similarly,

If you don’t have any Antivirus and getting the error No Internet Connection even if you are connected to WiFi. Then try adding an Antivirus to the system and scan the whole system. And then try to access the Internet again. This can also work in some cases.

5) Change IP and DNS settings

Change IP and DNS address settings to detect automatically by the ISP. This will help to avoid the error “No Internet Connection“. By changing the settings your PC will run on the default IP address provided by the ISP. Although you can change the DNS address to some trusted DNS address like Google. Otherwise, leave it as automatic.

How to change IP and DNS settings

Open Control Panel.
Then go to Network & Sharing center.
Now click on change adapter settings from the top left corner.
Now double click on the network that you are using and open its properties.
In WiFi properties open IPv4 or IPv6 properties (depends which one you are using).
Under properties, select Obtain an IP address Automatically. Do the same for DNS (or fill Google DNS address). WiFi Connected But No Internet Access

Google DNS Address: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 (IPv4) and 2001:4860:4860::8888 & 2001:4860:4860::8844 (IPv6)

Now check if this method has solved the issue or not. If this method doesn’t work don’t be disappointed we have many more solutions to go.

6) Delete Temporary Files

Temporary files may cause conflict issues which further causes bigger problems like No Inter Connection even if the system is connected to WiFi. Temp files are stored in the main drive where windows is installed (mainly C Drive).

How to Delete Temp Files

Open C drive in file explorer and go to the address: C:\Windows\temp.
Now select all the temporary files and folders and delete all of the files.
Again Connect to the network and then access the Internet.

7) Change Wireless Modes according to Device

Wireless Modes are represented as 802.11 b/g/n. You probably have seen this while reading any PC or Mobile device specification. For now, the latest Wireless Mode is 802.11 ac dual band. The device which comes with the latest Wireless band (802.11ac) also supports older wireless bands which are 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n.

So the problem comes when we use the old device with older wireless modes. These devices don’t support 802.11ac band. So, in this case, you need to change the wireless mode from your router account.

How to Change Wireless Modes

Go to address written on your Router. Or type the Default Gateway in the URL and search.
It will ask for username and password. Enter your username and password.
Now go to Wireless Modes and change it according to the device support and save it.

Then disconnect the WiFi and reconnect. This will definitely solve the issue. If not then try other methods.

Case 2: Router/Modem issue

8) Check for Cable

In case of Router or Modem issue first, check that the ethernet cable is properly attached on both ends. Sometimes this might be the problem which we neglect. But if have already check it then move to the next step. If you haven’t check you should check at least once to ensure that there is no problem from cable side.

9) Reset Router/Modem

Once you have checked the cables then you need to reset your router. You can also Reboot the router by login with username and password or you can reset by pressing the reset button.

Find the reset button, if you don’t find it take the help of Router manual. Press the reset button for at least 10 seconds to ensure the successful reset.

Or login to your Router and reset it from settings.

These are the methods to fix WiFi connected but no Internet access. Try to follow every mentioned method and check the problem is solved or not. Even after following every method the problem is still there then contact the ISP and get help from there.
