All current settings and data will be erased if you factory reset google wifi router Nest Wifi or Google Wifi devices. Data that has been deleted is lost permanently. You'll need to re-configure your router and point(s) after a factory reset.

Important: If you manage your devices with the Google Wifi app and factory reset your router or points, you'll need to set them up again with the Google Home app.

When you want to do the following, you can conduct a factory reset:

  1. Give your router to someone else or point it somewhere else.
  2. Please return the gadget to us.
  3. Delete all data from your router or access point.
  4. Begin from the beginning and set up your router or point(s) from the ground up.

Note: that a factory reset can take several minutes and may cause your internet connectivity to be disrupted. You'll have to set up your gadgets afresh after the reset.

The battle vs. Nest Wi-Fi

While the reset google wifi router is n't the most costly mesh network on the market, it is more expensive than the TP-Link Deco M5, which has similar coverage and functionality. The Amazon eero is also a more affordable option, and it comes with an extra point, bringing the total number of devices to three, as well as increased coverage to 5,000 square feet.

Voice controls are missing from both the TP-Link Deco M5 and Amazon eero kits. You'll also need to purchase an Amazon Echo Dot, which costs around $40 at the time of writing. The Nest Wi-Fi and NETGEAR Orbi, on the other hand, feature built-in voice controls.

That may make the Orbi worthwhile, especially if you can locate it at a discount and want a wired connection for your gaming PC.

Nest Wi-Fi, on the other hand, is a fairly good offer for the price if you already own Google gadgets or want a mesh system to blanket your entire home with a strong Wi-Fi signal.

The Nest Wifi team's method for setting up their home networks

My apartment building was erected in 1912, and no one was thinking about Wi-Fi signals when they built houses 100 years ago. As a result, I've had to improvise. In our living room, at the far end of our one-bedroom apartment, my fiancé and I have a Nest reset google wifi router set up. Having a Nest Wifi point, even though our apartment is only 850 square feet, offers us the signal boost we need, extending down three stories to the building's garage and backyard. We put our Nest Wifi point in the kitchen, and because it also functions as a smart speaker with Google Assistant, I can listen to music and podcasts while cooking or washing the dishes.

Software that is no longer supported

Even though your router looks to be in good working order, if it isn't receiving firmware updates, you should replace it.

Some routers will automatically install these updates, while others will require you to do so. Your router may benefit from an update that adds new functions. For example, Google released a feature for its Nest WiFi and Google WiFi routers last year to reduce video call disturbances such as buffering and stuttering.

Poor Performance

If your router isn't providing fast and consistent WiFi to your devices, you should upgrade it as well. This can be determined in a variety of ways.

You might find yourself unable to watch Netflix in 4K on the couch while the kids are in their rooms conversing with their buddies on Discord. Large downloads, such as games from Steam and Xbox GamePass, might take hours or even days to complete. Or perhaps you're having trouble getting a good connection in your spare room turned home office.
