Garmin inreach mini 2 features are incremental enhancements over the initial In Reach Mini 2 and keeps the same weight, size and design. The improvements include:
- Battery lasts longer when in tracking mode.
- Quicker GPS acquisition using four satellite networks
- The automatic track-back function aids in returning the user to the point of origin.
- The new user interface is based on Garmin watches.
- Electronic compass shows the direction of travel while stationary.
Mini 2 is also compatible with the Garmin Explore Mobile app. Some are curious to know how this application differs from Earth mate which is the messaging application that came with the first Mini.
How is it better than others?
If you don't own In reach mini or any other satellite messenger, a tougher case is available to fit Garmin Mini 2. It's:
- Incrementally superior to the Mini's original Mini.
- The tiniest and lightest satellite-based messenger available.
- It can function as a standalone device (i.e. in the absence of tethering to your mobile) due to its display and virtual keyboard, however, it's not the most user-friendly device when it's set up this way.
An alternative is to purchase Garmin In reach Mini for sale or second-hand. It will provide 90% of the features with the same size and weight however at a cheaper price for entry.
