Description

The 10th edition of Halliday's Fundamentals of Physics, Extended building upon previous issues by offering several new features and additions.  The new edition offers most accurate, extensive and varied set of assessment questions of any course management program in addition to all questions including some form of question assistance including answer specific feedback to facilitate success. The text also offers multimedia presentations (videos and animations) of much of the material that provide an alternative pathway through the material for those who struggle with reading scientific exposition.  Furthermore, the book includes math review content in both a self-study module for more in-depth review and also in just-in-time math videos for a quick refresher on a specific topic. The Halliday content is widely accepted as clear, correct, and complete. The end-of-chapters problems are without peer. The new design, which was introduced in 9e continues with 10e, making this new edition of Halliday the most accessible and reader-friendly book on the market.

New To This Edition

Rewritten chapters.  Based on feedback from his students, Jearl Walker has rewritten material that students find particularly challenging (eg Gauss’ law and electric potential). Some other changes include expanded coverage of the Schrödinger equation including reflection of matter waves from a step potential and a decoupling of the discussion of the Bohr atom from the Schrödinger solution for the hydrogen atom.New Sample Problems and Homework Question and Problems. 16 new sample problems, 350 problems and 50 questions some of which come from prior editions back by popular demand.

The Wiley Advantage

WileyPLUS is a research-based online environment for effective teaching and learning. WileyPLUS is packed with interactive study tools and resources–including the complete online textbook–to give your students more value for their money.WileyPLUS is now equipped with an adaptive learning module called ORION. Based on cognitive science,WileyPLUS with ORION, provides students with a personal, adaptive learning experience so they can build their proficiency on topics and use their study time most effectively. WileyPLUS with ORION helps students learn by learning about them. The Flying Circus of Physics, written by Jearl Walker, is incorporated into sample problems, text examples and end-of-chapter problems providing interesting real-world physics.Reading questions (available online) help test for reading comprehensionCheckpoints offer stopping points so students can check their understanding of a question.Sample problems demonstrate how problems can be solved with reasoned solutions rather than quick and simplistic plugging of numbers into an equation with no regard for what the equation means.

Fundamentals of Physics is a calculus-based physics textbook by David HallidayRobert Resnick, and Jearl Walker. The textbook is currently in its tenth edition (published 2013). The current version is a revised version of the original 1960 textbook Physics for Students of Science and Engineering by Halliday and Resnick, which was published in two parts (Part I containing Chapters 1-25 and covering mechanics and thermodynamics; Part II containing Chapters 26-48 and covering electromagnetism, optics, and introducing quantum physics). A 1966 revision of the first edition of Part I changed the title of the textbook to Physics.[1] It is widely used in colleges as part of the undergraduate physics courses, and has been well known to science and engineering students for decades as “the gold standard” of freshman-level physics texts. In 2002, the American Physical Society named the work the most outstanding introductory physics text of the 20th century.
The first edition of the book to bear the title Fundamentals of Physics, first published in 1981, was revised from the original text by Farrell Edwards and John J. Merrill.[2] Walker has been the revising author since 1990.[3] In the more recent editions of the textbook, beginning with the fifth edition,[4] Walker has included “checkpoint” questions. These are conceptual ranking-task questions that help the student before embarking on numerical calculations.
The textbook covers most of the basic topics in physics:

MechanicsWavesThermodynamicsElectromagnetismOpticsSpecial Relativity

The extended edition also contains introductions to topics such as quantum mechanicsatomic theorysolid-state physicsnuclear physics and cosmology. A solutions manual and a study guide are also available.[5]

About the Book.

Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday and Resnick free PDF is best physics book for the IIT-JEE entrance examination.

Halliday & Resnick Fundamentals of Physics is the greatest book ever for the preparation of IIT JEE Main & Advance. It is an upgraded version of Concepts Of Physics by HC Varma (in the order of toughness of problems asked in the book). It is the book for those who want to be selected in IIT JEE Advance exams.

I think that it is one of the best books ever written in physics. It basically defines physics (types of questions which are related to more than one topic ).This book is self-explanatory. Once you have read a particular topic then believe me you will know it better than your friend and teacher.
Any new chapter in the book Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday & Resnick begins with an interesting practical observation or phenomenon; the explanation of which is given in simple and detailed way in the chapter.

The language used by the author Halliday & Resnick Fundamental of Physics is quite easy to understand and the questions given at the end of every chapter are not so difficult but test the student's apprehension skills.

Fundamental of Physics by Halliday and Resnick is an excellent choice if your goal is to understand the concepts of physics but it is not for you if your basics Concepts are not clear(For Building basic concepts you can switch to DC Pandey Physics Set of 5 Books). Not because it is lacking in any way but because this book demands strong basic concepts of every topic & patience and time. If you have mastered this book then there will be no numerical problem in the book that you can't handle in few seconds.
