                        The descending sun also lengthens the shadows, making it the perfect time to celebrate the play of light and dark with shadow painting ideas. MATERIALS REQUIRED

Menorah Mixed media sketchbook

Gouache paints

Washi tape

Flat brush

Round brush

  1. Make an outline for your painting on the 180 GSM Paper. Here it is a hand holding an inverted rose against a window. The window frame is drawn in rectangular blocks for easy and clear highlighting.

      2. Paint the inside of each block with light orange gouache for that golden glow effect.

      3. Highlight the border of each rectangle on your sketchbook with bright orange to show the sunlight falling on the wooden frame.

horizontal pattern      4. Draw the horizontal pattern of the blinds using the same bright orange and a round brush on your mixed media sketchbook.

           You can stick washi tape near the hand portion to keep it clear from paint.

      5. Paint the sides and the top of the window frame with dark brown gouache.

          Fill in the gap between the rectangular boxes too with brown to show the dark shadow effect when seen from the inside of the building.

      6. Paint the figure of the hand holding the rose with dark brown on your sketchbook.
