Miami is one of the most electrifying, interesting, and eclectic cities in the world, combining its rich history with its modern, hip aesthetic and features. It's a gorgeous city that is teeming with culture, art, and historical value, and there are some incredible places to see all around the region.

Some of the must-see historical places in Miami include the following:

Barnacle Historic State Park

This beautiful, simple home is located in Coconut Grove, at the edge of Biscayne Bay, and gives us a look-see into a very momentous time in Floridian history. The home has been around since 1891, during the Era of the Bay, which was a time when the only way to leave or enter Miami was by sea. The stunning design and architecture, while simple, are also incredibly well-preserved. It was owned by Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of Coconut Grove's pioneers, and he made sure to preserve the forest on his land, only carving out a winding buggy trail through the hammock. Due to Monroe's decision, the property contains tons of gorgeous large, old trees. It's the perfect place to step into a different era.

Freedom Tower

Freedom Tower is one of the most iconic locations in Miami. It served as the Cuban Assistance Center between 1962 and 1974, providing nationally sanctioned relief to the Cuban refugees looking for political asylum from the Castro regime. It's not just important to Miami, but it's considered a National Historic Landmark for its relevance to the Cuban exodus to the United States and resettlement during the Cold War. Many Cubans fled to Miami, Florida, because it's so close to Cuba.
