As a United States Green card holder, you not need to apply for a Greece Schengen Visa! you're allowed to visit Greece and to all or any other members of the Schengen Area for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa, as long as your United States passport is valid for a minimum of 3 months after your planned return to the United States!

You need proof of sufficient funds for the amount of stay in Greece and a return airline ticket. Basically, there are various approved ways to prove your economic sufficiency:

A personal statement indicating your financial movements (for a minimum of 3 last months)

  • Credit card
  • Cash
  • Traveler’s cheques
  • Pay slips
  • Proof of employment
  • Supporting document to attest sponsor’s readiness to hide your expenses during your stay
  • Proof of prepaid accommodation
  • Document about accommodation privately
  • Proof of prepaid transport
  • Other

As the European Commission communicates, since December 24, 2007 all foreign nationals, are obliged to attest possessing an amount of 50€/day and a minimum total amount of 300€ /stay up to five days.

Greece Schengen Visa requirement Documents & Process to Apply: Tourist visa

  • A valid passport or Travel document. Please make sure:
  • your passport should be issued within the last 10 years,
  • That your passport are going to be valid for a minimum of three (3) months after the date you exit the Schengen Area.
  • A valid Green Card or a visa to the United States (except for B1/B2).
  • A completed and signed visa form.
  • One photo, which must be glued on the appliance form. Applications with stapled photographs are going to be rejected.
  • Bank and MasterCard statements for the last 3 months.
  • W-2 forms for the last 2 years.
  • Official Travel Itinerary with closed dates of travel.
  • Travel Insurance stating that you simply are covered just in case of a medical emergency and repatriation in Greece and within the Schengen Area (minimum coverage of € 30.000).
  • Hotel reservations or proof of participation in group travel.

For employees:

Reference letter from the company which includes your position and monthly or annual salary

For self-employed persons:

Submit a letter from the bank that you simply do business with, stating that the corporate is in good standing.

For foreign students on F1 visas:

  • Valid I-20
  • Reference letter from institution (school/college/university) stating that you simply are in good standing, your major and therefore the expected date of graduation.

If Invited

If you're invited by a lover or loved one you want to submit: a letter of invitation (affidavit) signed by the one that is inviting you and notarized by the acceptable Authorities in Greece.

  • Proof that the spouse may be a Greek or EU citizen (EU passport or identification card).

Notes:

  • The Greece Consular Office reserves the proper to invite further documentation, additionally to the above mentioned.
  • The applicant has got to provide a group of photocopies of the above original documents.
  • All visa applicants must appear face to face so as to submit their application a minimum of fortnight before their trip.
  • Once the visa has been approved and issued, we will mail your passport to your residence if you provide us with a prepaid express envelope only from the post office (FEDEX, UPS, and DHL etc).
  • Minor children cannot apply for his or her own visa. Both parents need to give their consent face to face.
