Introduction

Gokarna, in Karnataka's northernmost region, is a true beach paradise! It has five major beaches with clear water, gentle waves, and breathtaking scenery! Among them are Gokarna Main Beach, Kudle Beach, Om Beach, Half Moon Beach, and Paradise Beach. Between these beaches are lush green hills, making Gokarna an even more appealing tourist destination.

Trekking Route to Gokarna Beach

The Gokarna Beach Trek trail is clearly marked throughout the route, and there are various directions and graffiti along the way.

Paradise Beach to Half Moon Beach

Arrive at Paradise Beach, swim for a while, and enjoy a coconut before beginning the trek! One of the most difficult sections of the journey is from Paradise Beach to Half Moon Beach (as compared to other parts). In the beginning, there is some rock and boulder climbing. As you progress, the trail gradually ascends, and the views are breathtaking! You'll pass by two photo stops along the way: Small Hell Beach and Hell Cliff. If you want to deviate from the trail and visit these locations, be cautious of the rocks. They could be a little slick and difficult.A little further ahead is another photo opportunity labelled as Friends Beach on Google Maps. There are many picturesque spots along this route, and if you're lucky, you might even see some dolphins.

From Half Moon to Om Beach

After relaxing and refreshing yourself at Half Moon Beach, you can begin your journey towards Om Beach. There is a short climb at the start, followed by a gradual trail through the trees. This section of the journey is once again a lot of fun! A cliff just before Om Beach provides a beautiful view of the entire Om Beach. At this point, you can see the beach's Om Shape from the top. Om Beach View Point is the pin. As a result, stopping here is well worth it.The pristine Om Beach is a short distance ahead of this point! Spend a fun afternoon at Om Beach swimming, kayaking, playing beach games, taking pictures on top of rocks, and finishing with a delicious lunch!

Om Beach to Kudle Beach

After lunch, you can begin your journey to Kudle Beach. The hike from Om Beach to Kudle Beach is the shortest of the three. Once you exit the Om Beach, there are a few steps on the left that lead to the next trail. You can even take an auto from this exit if you are tired. You can take a short detour to Shri Umamasheshwar Temple, which is located just before Kudle Beach. The trail to the temple is on the left, near the Kudle Beach steps. The steps near Kudle Beach, on the other hand, lead directly to the beach. Kudle Beach is the best swimming beach because the continental shelf is relatively shallow and the waves are fun. However, be cautious and avoid going out if the sea/waves aren't friendly.

What to Bring on a Gokarna Beach Trek

If you are visiting Gokarna for reasons other than the Gokarna Beach Trek, you will need a few more items than those listed here. Because it is quite hot in Gokarna, you should not bring too many items on this trek. What to bring for a Gokarna Beach Trek depends entirely on how you intend to travel and whether or not you intend to swim or participate in water sports. The following pointers and checklist should assist you in determining what is best for you.

  • Clothes – A t-shirt and shorts would suffice. Anything that dries quickly and is suitable for hiking and swimming.
  • Footwear – While trekking shoes are recommended for this trek, it is possible to complete it in sandals as well. Sandals are also easier to put on and take off without a lot of sand getting inside at the beach or after swimming.
  • Unless you don't mind drying naturally in the sun, a towel/napkin is a must. Keep a reusable plastic bag handy to avoid dampening the contents of the bag.
  • Carry no more valuables than necessary. A phone, a camera, a power bank, and some cash should suffice for the ferry, water sports, and food.
  • Water – To stay hydrated, bring at least one reusable water bottle with you. You can request and have it refilled at the beach shacks.
  • You can apply sunscreen and walk away, but it will be washed off and rendered ineffective after a while. You can also keep it on hand and apply it after each swim.
  • Sunglasses, hats, and other personal items are permitted.

The best time of year to visit Gokarna?

The months to visit Gokarna without a doubt are October through March, when the humidity is at its lowest. There are a lot of foreign visitors from November to February. The rainy season, also known as the offseason, is not the best time to visit the beaches because everything appears deserted and unkempt, and there are few places to eat. During the Ganesh Chaturthi and Shivratri celebrations, the town's temples are at their busiest.
