Hydrogen is a cleaner substitute to methane, also termed as natural gas. It is the most plenteous chemical element, accounting for 75% of the universe's mass. Water, plants, animals, and, of course, humans contain massive amounts of hydrogen atoms.
By combining hydrogen and oxygen atoms, hydrogen fuel cells generate electricity. To generate electricity, water, and small amounts of heat, hydrogen reacts with oxygen in an electrochemical cell related to that of a battery. There are numerous types of fuel cells available for a broad range of applications.
