Moments gives you bite-sized portions of FIFA gameplay in the form of exciting challenges designed to test your shape and discover how various cards work together.
It's not yet ready however, there's a huge opportunity to record the lives of players and recreate immortal moments of football history with this mode. The current collection features highlights from the great times of Jurgen Klopp as well as Kylian Mbappe, but in the coming year's game, it would be awesome to see what EA's team could do together with other greats of the game like Pele and ‘King' Kazuyoshi Miura.
Additionally, there are major changes to the chemical system. Chemistry is no longer affected by a player's location in the formation compared to other players, a change that enables greater variation across countries and leagues. I don't think it will affect anyone's strategies too much, but it's nice knowing that you're able to bring in wildcard players and have more options in connecting them with top division players.
Finding the ideal midfielder to hit that coveted '33' chemistry feels very similar to playing a Squad Building Challenge now, which feels intentional. These challenges are an excellent way to spend a few hours doing frankly nothing, but EA's ‘sudoku for football geeks' is best played with the companion app, away from Ultimate Team's slow console menus.
A dark omen of the licensing fights to come, FIFA has lost the J1 League license this year meaning no more King Kazu. In the end, it was a pivot to an entertaining Bronze and Silver Australian A League team that features the fearsome attack force from Hibs winger Martin Boyle and the aptly named David Ball.
