Happy International Women's Day!

Your daughters will always remain your favorite baby girls – regardless of their ages. While they may no longer be a few months old or as cuddly as they were when they were barely one, they remain the apple of your eyes – your favorite little girl. Watching your princesses grow into young ladies has to be the best thing ever.

And while you might and should be excited watching them grow, you may also nurse some fears, especially if you don’t know if you’re teaching them all they ought to know. Chill, mama; rest, papa. This article highlights some of the essential things your girls should be aware of as they grow. Address these issues, and you can be sure that you’re off to a great start.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day and urge each other to #BreakTheBias, let’s do the best we can to lay a foundation for the same.

1. Teach Your Girls about Money

Financial literacy is not a requirement for college admission — but it should be! If your girls do not learn about money management from you, they will learn about it in some other manner — possibly at the expense of credit card debt or student loan debt. Begin communicating your financial plans with your children at a young age. What is the point of keeping it a secret?

Consider this an excellent opportunity to bring mathematics to life! Explain in words they will comprehend, and use visual aids such as pie charts to aid your argument. To begin, go to the grocer and explain how much money you've set aside for the excursion in your budget. Give them a calculator and assign them the responsibility of keeping track of the totals as you go.

2. Teach Them Discipline

Imagine how much easier this could be for young girls to deal with since they usually start out life with far less responsibility! Discipline and willpower carry over into all aspects of our lives, including food, money, jobs, and other obligations. Set an example for them. Make decisions that you are confident in and stick to them (as much as possible).

Make promises to yourself and follow through on them. Afterward, urge them to do the same thing. Begin with a minimal investment. If they establish arrangements with friends, be certain that they follow through on their obligations. Do not let them off the hook if they have promised to accomplish a task or project. This will strengthen them and help them develop their character.

3. Teach Them to Take Care of the Home

No, this is not to perpetuate any stereotypes about females. Being able to take care of yourself and your surroundings is a skill every HUMAN needs to learn.

Our daughters need to be able to cook, do home chores, and do some basic sewing to be independent adults. They will save money and avoid health problems in the future as a result of this. So many people rely on fast food and quick-fix dinners to get them through the day. Clothes are thrown away due to untreated stains, missing buttons, and tears in the pockets or knees. Here's another excellent opportunity to exercise both imagination and problem-solving skills! And your daughters will be aware that they are doing their part to save the environment by not adding their pile to the landfill.

4. Teach Them the 3 R's — Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic

Girls must have a solid foundation in basic educational abilities. It is possible for children to fall through the cracks in today's world of constantly shifting standards, practices, and rules. Be a strong advocate for your girls and support them both in and out of school. When and why do some girls come to believe that they cannot perform mathematical tasks? Do they enjoy reading, or do they despise it?

The key to opening up the girls' horizons is instilling a passion for learning in them. Encourage children to read by setting an example for them. You can also purchase them a customized diary of their choosing to see writing as pleasurable and an opportunity for them to learn more about themselves. Take educational vacations and transform ordinary events into opportunities for them to put their newly acquired abilities into practice!

5. Teach Them to Play

These days, play is underappreciated—and it's so important! People learn better socially when they play. It fosters creative thinking and problem-solving. It aids youngsters in making sense of the world around them. Make sure your kids have access to these kinds of experiences.

And just to be clear, video games do not qualify as play!
