Jadon Sancho ‘refuses to make Man Utd return unless Erik ten Hag is fired'

Jadon Sancho's spectacular spat with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has meant their relationship is beyond repair and the winger will not return to Old Trafford as long as he is in charge

Jason Sancho has reportedly refused to return to Manchester United – unless Erik ten Hag is fired.

Sancho, 23, is now back at Borussia Dortmund on loan after making a £73million move to United in 2021. His struggles at Old Trafford culminated in a huge bust-up with Red Devils manager Ten Hag at the start of the season.

The winger is now slowly finding his form again with the German club, who The Sun claims are expected to offer £35m for Sancho this summer. And the outlet claims United chiefs have given up on any hope that Ten Hag and Sancho could put their differences aside in the future.

Sancho effectively called Ten Hag a liar when the Dutchman openly said he had not been training well following a defeat to Arsenal in September, where the midfielder was absent from the squad. The Englishman refused to apologise for his outburst on social media and was banished from the first team, even being forbidden to eat with his team-mates.

He managed to secure a loan move to Dortmund in January, where he has slowly been eased back into the team due to a lack of fitness. He has made 10 appearances in the Bundesliga and Champions League, scoring two and assisting two.

Sancho enjoyed an eye-catching display in Dortmund’s last-16 win over PSV on Wednesday night, scoring the opener with a clinical finish from the edge of the box. And having sealed Dortmund’s place in the Champions League quarter-finals, a return to form could tempt United to bring back their flop signing.

The playmaker’s United future is currently bolstered by the fact that the club’s new minority owner and chief of football operations Sir Jim Ratcliffe has given no assurances regarding Ten Hag’s position beyond the end of this season. It is therefore likely to be a case of either one or both of the pair leaving come summer.
