This means that until some of these are moved on, the club cannot sign any foreign players. Xherdan Shaqiri is likely to leave soon, with Harvey Elliott acting as his replacement in the team. Perhaps a player-plus-cash deal could suit both sides, as we could see the 26-year-old having a good career in Holland.
For someone that could well be good enough to be Mohamed Salah’s long-term replacement, Madueke would be well worth it. For us, the Londoner is the best homegrown option for Liverpool this summer. The PSV star is being chased by many clubs, so the Reds will have to act fast to sign him.
Sell Adrian and replace him with Hart
Ok, there is absolutely no chance of this move happening. Adrian recently signed a new deal at Liverpool to keep him on Merseyside as the third-choice keeper for another year at least. Yet changing your third-choice keeper for the sake of a world-class midfielder and forward would be a no-brainer to us.
Joe Hart’s career has had a rather sad and almost unbelievable decline, but he is still a good character to have around the place. Isn’t that what a third-choice keeper is really there for? He probably wouldn’t even play a game for the club, would cost basically nothing and would help solve a big problem elsewhere. Other keepers, like John Ruddy or Fraser Forster, could similarly fill the gap.
Sell Origi and replace him with Abraham
Perhaps with both Madueke and Abraham signed, there would be no need to sign an extra non-homegrown attacker. We believe that he is not rated anywhere near as highly as he should be. The Athletic believe that the Reds want a fee of up to £20m for Origi. If they get that, then they will have the money to spend on his replacement. Pacy No 9’s with an eye for goal are always worth having at a club.
At best, Abraham could be Liverpool’s long-term striker. At worst, he comes in for a year and does not get as much game time as he would have liked and is sold at a very small loss. A deal certainly makes sense to us.
