He had the opportunity but failed to make the most of it. He failed to unlock as much potential as he had expected. Still, there is no doubt that he is a leading player in NC's future. This is the story of Oh Young-soo (24), the originator of NC. Seeming to have given up his greed, Oh called himself “a gemstone that is hard to deal with” and calmly said that he is preparing for this season by returning to his “初.”

On the 11th (Korea time), I met Oh Young-soo, who was silently sweating in training, including batting and defense, at Enex Field in Tucson Reed Park, Arizona, where the NC Spring Camp is in full swing. If Oh Young-soo was confident at last year's camp, this year he seemed comfortable as if he had emptied his greed in his heart.

“This year, I am calmly going to camp without spending my energy on unnecessary things,” said Oh Young-soo, who met after the training. “I realized last year's injury is the biggest risk factor, and I am changing it one by one. It may seem a little off when viewed by strangers, but not at all.”

Since being discharged from the military, Oh has displayed his presence by playing in 83 games during the 2022 season, posting a batting average of 0.238 with six homers and 31 RBIs. With growing expectations, Oh took over as the starting first baseman last year, and spearheaded the rise of NC Dinos by swinging a hard hit early in the season. However, as his injury hampered his performance, his momentum did not last long. Oh Young-soo, who was desperate in the second division (Futures) league, showed good performance by swinging a fire bat in the second half of the season.

What I realized while spending some time trying hard was letting go. In addition, I met with Kang Young-soo, a teacher at Sapa Elementary School who first started playing baseball before the start of this camp, and after receiving advice, I made up my mind.

“I thought a lot about how I got to become a professional. That's why I visited Kang Young-soo, an elementary school teacher,” Oh said. “I talked to him and asked him again about the training I had in elementary school. It's an old-style training that we often talk about, but I learned a good sense by playing a lot of balls. I found some things during the training.”

“Before going to the camp and at the camp, our coaches said that they looked comfortable after seeing my blow. They also looked at me and said, ‘It's so good right now.'” “I tend to train myself tremendously to acquire a skill. I learn and train myself until I become alone. I really feel like a gemstone that is hard to polish.”  먹튀검증

Will it help her regain her initial commitment? “I feel at ease. There is no emotional consumption or confusion. When I start a camp, I feel like things are going well this year,” he said. “I think Davidson is not in a hurry because he is here.”

Matt Davidson, a new foreign hitter for the NC Dinosaurs, has been picked as the fourth batter and first baseman for this season. Manager Kang In-kwon said, “I sincerely hope that Oh Young-soo, who was the starting first baseman last year, uses Davidson as a windbreaker to learn more and grow.

Coach Kang said, “Last season, (Oh) Young-soo was in charge of first base, so he must have felt a lot of pressure, and he must have been disappointed in himself when the results didn't come out,” adding, “I hope Young-soo doesn't have to be impatient with the results, but thinks about it more broadly and sees it bigger. Since the windbreaker Davidson came, if he sees his strengths while breathing and training together and grows further, Young-soo will be able to develop sufficiently as a representative player of NC in the future.”

Oh Young-soo is also well aware of the coach's sincerity. “I can learn a lot from behind as Davidson comes. Rather, I think I can step back a little bit and see a wider picture because Davidson is here,” he said. “We will help Davidson adapt to Korean culture by talking a lot.”
