CLEVELAND, OH – Businessman David Taylor emerged victorious in the Republican primary on March 19, capturing a notable 25% of the votes and beating back 10 other contenders, including state legislator Niraj Antani, who were vying for the 2nd congressional district seat left vacant by retiring Congressman Brad Wenstrup.
Antani secured 1.8% of the vote landing him in the 10th spot.
The contest for Ohio’s 2nd Congressional District proved to be the costliest among the state’s congressional races this election cycle. Taylor led the fundraising efforts, amassing a staggering $1.7 million in campaign contributions, surpassing several rivals who also amassed over a million dollars, media reports said.
Antani after his loss, reaffirmed his commitment to his Senate duties until his term concludes on December 21.
