HOW TO APPLY FOR UPSC CSE 2022:

 

Candidates are required to apply Online by using the website https://upsconline.nic.in Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above-mentioned website. 

 

  • Candidate should have details of one Photo ID Card viz. Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving Licence/Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government. The details of this Photo ID Card will have to be provided by the candidate while filling up the online application form. The candidates will have to upload a scanned copy of the Photo ID whose details have been provided in the online application by him/her. This Photo ID Card will be used for all future referencing and the candidate is advised to carry this Photo ID Card while appearing for the Examination/Personality Test. 

 

DETAILS ON UPSC CSE 2022 PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION: 

 

The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each. 

Note: 

(i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions) and each will be of two hours duration. 

(ii) The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%. 

(iii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.

Nationality

 

Indian citizens are required to apply for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS). All other services require applicants to be either Indian citizens or foreign nationals.

 

  1. A Nepalese or A Bhutanese citizen
  2. A Tibetan refugee arrived in India prior to January 1, 1962, with the intention of establishing a permanent residence.
  3. A person of Indian ancestry who has permanently relocated to India from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam.

 

Number of Attempts

 

For general category candidates, the maximum number of tries allowed in the UPSC Exam is six. Candidates in the OBC category will have nine chances. SC/ST candidates are not restricted to a set number of attempts. Candidates should be aware that they are no longer eligible to take the UPSC IAS Exam if they have taken the UPSC CSE Prelims as many times as the number of attempts allowed.
