Organix or OGX, a popular hair care brand, is facing many lawsuits for causing hair loss and scalp irritation.
Organix was advertised to provide hair care products safe from sulfates and parabens, projecting the use of natural, healthy ingredients. OGX shampoos, conditioners, and other hair products gained popularity for nourishing and reviving hair.
Along with the popularity, OGX started facing an inflow of hair loss class action claims from people affected from the adverse effects after using Organix products. Consumers alleged that the hair care products promised to revive their hair actually caused significant damage. Hair loss, scalp irritation, and other hair-related issues have become common side effects, leading to Organix lawsuits against the OGX.
J&J was under scrutiny for using DMDM in its products in 2012 itself. In 2015, it promised to remove DMDM from its products but failed to remove the ingredient from OGX products after acquiring it in 2016.
The consumers claimed that the company falsely marketed the OGX products as natural and harmless but in reality had dangerous chemicals, which have contributed to their hair issues. The lack of adding proper warning labels about the adverse side effects made them fall prey.
