The sleeve which gets squeezed is made up of corrosion resistant material like rubber. The rubber tube or sleeve is pinched by steel bars on the centre line of the valve to close it. This is a tight shutoff valve which is supplied with pinch tube contained within an outer-pipe between the end flanges. They can be operated using handwheel or with the help of electric or pneumatic actuators. They are used in industries where service pressure is very low. They are completely cavity-free and are suited for isolating pipelines which carry abrasive slurries and large suspended solids.
