The harm caused by water seepage could worsen if the crack is not fixed. More costly issues like mould growth or foundational instability could arise as a result.

The good news is that fixing a crack is usually an easy job that can be done in a few hours.

If you want to try fixing your broken shower tray on your own but aren't sure where to begin, don't panic. Our team of professionals has compiled a simple, step-by-step instruction for fixing your acrylic or Shower base.

Spotless the Shower Base

The first item of business is to examine that fissure closely. To do this, scrape the shower tray to get rid of any remaining stains or marks.

The shower enclosure on the tray, it is hoped, would be spacious enough for this.

Maintaining a tidy work area is essential for any kind of repair work. Immediately after removing the tray, let it to air out completely before attempting to fill the crack.

Check out the Cracks

If the crack was caused by dropping an item in the shower, you should be able to fix it on your own.

When fixing minor surface damage like chips and cracks, a simple patch job is all that's required. Filling and refinishing these cracks should do the trick.

But if you find multiple small cracks or large ones in your shower base, you may want to consider getting it fixed or replaced.

If this is the case, it is recommended that you consult an expert.

A Patch Should Be Used

If the crack is confirmed to be quite minor, repairs can begin.

Once the crack has been sanded down, sweep the dust from the area around it. This will guarantee proper bonding between the patch and the surface after the epoxy has been applied.

After the area has stopped shaking, you can begin repairing the crack with fibreglass mesh.

Cut out any extra after measuring the hole or crack with a piece of tape. The patch should then be put on. This procedure might not be required if the hole or fracture is small enough.

How to Make and Use a Filler

If your shower base has cracked, this repair kit has everything you need to put it back together.

Filler and a mixing pan are included in these kits, which may be purchased from any number of retailers like Home Depot, Lowe's, and even Amazon.

You should use protective clothing and follow the instructions for mixing the resin in the kit. Use newspaper or dust sheets to protect the floor. In order to prevent the hole or crack from getting worse, you must immediately apply the filler. Put as much filler in the crack as you think is necessary to make it invisible. Don't make a big deal out of it sitting awkwardly on the tray. Filler that isn't needed can be taken out at a later time. After applying the filler to the crack, give it a chance to solidify for a few hours, or preferably overnight.

Finally, Everything Comes to an End

If there is any excess filler, you can sand it down when it dries. Brush away any debris and give the patched section of your shower tray a final shine so it blends in with the rest of the tray. Wait at least 24 hours before using the shower again after the final polish.
