Home and living support options are important for people with disabilities as they pave the way for a more inclusive, independent, and fulfilling life. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for a variety of home and living support options including Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and Individualised Living Options (ILO).
Individualised Living Options (ILO) support empowers individuals with disabilities to make informed decisions about their living arrangements and necessary support systems. This includes guidance and assistance in navigating housing options, understanding available support services, and planning for a lifestyle that promotes autonomy.
The participants will have the freedom to determine where to live, with whom, and the kind of support needed to foster independence through ILO support. ILO does not provide funding for a house, housing rent, utilities, personal expenses or payment for informal support. ILO is especially beneficial for people who value their privacy and are planning to move out of group home arrangements. An ILO provider can easily match the participants with co-residents or a suitable host depending on the participant’s personal preference, individual circumstances, and NDIS goals.
