After 2 years of gap, Serendipity Arts Festival is back in the vibrant city of Goa. For the last 2 years, the event was shifted online. Now, it is ready to thrill art lovers of India and abroad once again in Panaji, Goa. Around nine new curators have found a place in this mega South Asian Arts festival. In this article, we discuss some spellbound theatre performances of the event.
Pah-Lak
In collaboration with the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Tibet Theatre will present the drama. The drama revolves around a Buddhist nun. It is based on real stories during the 2008 Lhasa riots. The drama will feature several artists from Tibet. The curator of the drama is Quasar Thakore Padamsee, and an Indian stage actor turned theatre director.
One Hundred and Eleven
The live drama is a duet between a famous ballet dancer from Estonia and a paraplegic dancer from Scotland. The show named, One Hundred and Eleven explores different strengths and vulnerabilities. The power-packed performance would encourage you to give a huge round of applause to those who fill you with positive vibes.
Jo Dooba So Paar
The theatre performance reveals Ameer Khusrau (an Indo-Persian Sufi singer poet, and scholar of 1253-1325 AD) relationship with his mentor Nizamuddin Auliya through live Qawwali (a form of Sufi Islamic devotional singing). It spreads the message of love and devotion towards masters and Sufism.
How Long is Forever
Curated by Mayuri Upadhya, the dance will mesmerize you. Artists and choreographer Priyabrata Panigrahi has accepted the challenge to remind you why dance and poetry are necessary to experience, particularly during the global crisis, separation, anarchy, and violence.
Rumiyana
It is a musical puppet theatre performance that depicts Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi (a great Sufi mystic, poet, and philosopher). Geeta Chandran curates a show that synergizes puppets, dancers, and actors to bring a multimedia performance combining animations, music, and digital projections.
Serendipity Arts Festival 2022 is one of the largest South Asian art events. It is a perfect amalgamation of dance, music, art, theatre, cuisine, and skills. The event organizes every year in December at Panjim in Goa. The Serendipity Arts Foundation aims at encouraging artists from every field and gives them the best platform to present their skills. Serendipity Arts Festival is one of the biggest initiatives of the event.
