An effective question should help you gain deeper understanding. It should illuminate new aspects of reality while inspiring reflection, reconsideration and hope.

Rio Ferdinand unleashed some stern words against Jadon Sancho during a recent live stream after the Manchester United winger publicly called out Erik Ten Hag's criticism of his training sessions.

Will he be able to force his way back?

Sancho struggled to make an impressionful mark last season in a United team which lacked confidence, only featuring regularly upon starting this term. Yet his performances have improved greatly recently and he appears more adept as a wing-back rather than as part of their centre defence unit.

He created an opportunity and cleared one off during Sunday's win against Leeds, as well as winning one of his tackles. His constant forward presence proved his talent was still there despite an uneven start to the campaign.

Erik Ten Hag acknowledges that Jadon Sancho has yet to reach full fitness and the club's senior management have no timeline in mind for when the winger will return, yet feels progress has been made with his recovery process. Ten Hag states: “We can't rush things – improvement is key and that's what really counts”.

Will he be able to get back on track?

“Sancho” is an idiomatic term commonly used by Latin-American communities to refer to an intimate partner of a married woman. While often applied to men, women can also be called “Sancho”.

Jadon Sancho's response on social media to being left out of Manchester United's squad to play Arsenal has breached trust and goodwill at Old Trafford, placing his future at serious risk. Furthermore, Ten Hag's efforts over Christmas to bring Sancho back up to speed weakened their efforts at Old Trafford.

United has given former Dortmund player Alexis Sanchez the ability to thrive in two positions at once due to his speed and accurate passing, creating opportunities with ease and shooting from both wings. Unfortunately, though, even when given starting roles like last weekend – such as when starting against Arsenal – his impactful performances remain scoreless; improving all-round game will be necessary if he wants a starting spot again this season.

Will he be able to get back to his best?

Sancho's public response to being dropped from Sunday's squad at Arsenal was unfortunate, breaching trust with both his manager and himself in doing so. More importantly, however, is that such behaviour may make his return harder.

Sancho was one of the most versatile attacking players at Dortmund during his time there as an ex-Manchester City youth product, equally adept on either flank. Scoring goals while setting them up was something he excelled at doing for both himself and his teammates.

Ten Hag gave Sancho some time off after the World Cup to work on his fitness away from United's main group and results have been encouraging. Since his ovation at Carrington in October he has not played for United, instead taking part in an individual program designed to bring out his full potential. Only time will tell whether that strategy succeeds in producing maximum performances from Sancho.

Will he be able to redeem himself?

Sancho would gain much from moving to a club that can guarantee him first-team football every week, such as Manchester United. Unfortunately, their manager Erik Ten Hag has publicly criticised his training performances which could prove detrimental for 22-year-old Sancho.

Sancho started his first Premier League game since October and created one shot and cross, two tackles, and won one duels he competed in. While still getting used to his surroundings, signs are emerging of what Sancho can accomplish when on the ball.
