Add More Storage Solutions
If you have a bare-bones laundry room, one of the first things you should do is add more storage solutions. These can be for clothes, towels and linens, detergent, cleaning supplies, or anything else you need to store in an easy-to-reach location.
There are many different ways to increase your laundry room’s storage.
You can build custom shelving solutions with shelf brackets at roughly eye level along one wall. Cubbies are also another good choice because they can store shoes, folded clothes, and all your soaps and keep them all separated. Hooks on the wall are another must-have for coats, towels, and backpacks.
Turn It Into a Multi-Purpose Room
Your laundry room doesn’t have to just be for laundry. It can be an office, craft room, mud room, or washroom.

If you want to add more usable space to your laundry room while also integrating your washer and dryer into the décor a little more, building a countertop over the machines will get the job done. Remember, though, that this project will only work if you have a front-loading washer and dryer.
Install cabinet side walls on either side of your washer and dryer (and in between them if you need more support). Then, pick a countertop and attach it on top. A centerpiece material like white oak or birch instantly adds another level to your laundry room.
Mount a Folding and Ironing Station
Folding tables and ironing boards can take up a lot of space in your laundry room. A game-changing strategy can be a mounted station that folds out when you need it and folds back up—either into a closet or cabinet—so you save space and increase functionality at the same time.
Other cool features to add to the station are a lightbulb inside the cabinet, an outlet for the iron, and a shelf for lint rollers and dryer sheets. After this, your laundry room will be able to do it all.
