Interior
I remember the mediocre design of the center console of the Toyota iM. The old interior is made up of a bunch of parts from other cars. Maybe the old interior designer has left (laughs). The interior of the Toyota Corolla 2019 Hatch is amazing. The three hollow design steering wheels are in line with the positioning of the model, and the large floating touch screen in the center is also very eye-catching.
The large 8-inch touch screen in the center supports Apple CarPlay, and Android users may have to wait a while. The air conditioner can be independently controlled by mechanical buttons, and this car even supports zoned air conditioners.
There are some differences between the instrument panel design of low configuration SE and high configuration XSE. SE's instrument panel is dominated by pointers, with a 4.3-inch digital LCD screen in the center. The XSE has a 7-inch digital instrument panel that can display various information including speed, oil volume, and oil temperature.
There are three interior options: all black, black/white, and white/black. The figure below shows two black and white matching schemes.
Of course, my favorite is all black, it looks simple and neat, and it is not easy to get dirty. Compared with cars, hatchback models have a lot of usable space. The trunk can be fully opened, and it will not be unable to put things down because of the super height. The rear seats of Corolla Hatch can be fully reclined 40/60, with luggage, and transporting a bicycle is not a problem.
Hardware
This time Toyota is finally willing to increase the horsepower of the Corolla. The old iM uses a 1.8L inline 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which can only output 137 horsepower. After kicking the accelerator to the end, the car was slow for a while before moving out slowly. The 0-60 mile acceleration is nearly 10 seconds.
Fortunately, Toyota introduced a newly designed 2.0L inline 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine on the 2019 Corolla Hatchback. It uses a dual cam 16-valve design, with VVT variable timing and D4-S dual-cylinder direct injection system, which can output 168 horsepower and 204N.m torque. This result has caught up with the turbocharged Volkswagen Golf and Civic hatchback. While increasing horsepower, fuel consumption is still good, city 32 / high speed 42 / combined 36mpg. This fuel consumption is normally used for half a month and only refueled once, and the monthly fuel cost does not exceed $70.
The 2019 Corolla Hatch is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 active safety system as standard. This system has high accuracy, can detect pedestrians to prevent collisions, support adaptive cruise, prevent road deviation, recognize speed limit plates, and automatic high beams; it has enhanced low-light detection capabilities and has a higher recognition rate at night.
Toyota also cooperated with the professional team Papadakis Racing to create this drifting chariot based on the 2019 Corolla Hatch, with a turbocharged engine that can output 1,000 horsepower and rear-wheel drive.
