Salsa is a popular dance form and musical style that has deep Caribbean and African roots. It is pretty popular in almost the whole Latin America, as well as among Latino communities in the United States. In the recent years, it has gained a good amount of popularity in Europe as well. It is easy to pursue a salsa or Bachata Katowice course [Kurs bachaty Katowice] today.  People across Poland love this dance form, and try to learn it themselves.

The salsa rhythm is extensively recognized for being catchy and easy to learn. The origins of salsa date back to 1900s in Eastern Cuba, where musical elements and rhythms multiple styles were combined. Cuban son and Afro-Cuban rumba are the two main styles that were used to create the basis of a rhythm that eventually became to be known as salsa.

While a lot of people do take Katowice dance lessons [Lekcje tańca Katowice] to learn salsa, this dance form is not easy to master. In fact the first stage in learning salsa is generally the hardest.  Several individuals, especially if they do not have much of a prior dance experience, end up struggling to focus on both stepping with the beat and moving their arms at the same time. Here are a few pointers one can keep in mind to improve their salsa learning experience:

  • Multiple people refuse to join a salsa class as they are worried about being too awkward and making a food of themselves. However, ironically, it is this approach that often keeps them being awkward for years of their life. It is absolutely normal to feel a bit awkward while learning a new dance form.  Rather than running away from it, a person should try to embrace it.  They are bound to quickly learn how to laugh at their own self and learn from their mistakes.
  • While no one likes homework, it is invariably a good idea for people to practice salsa all by themselves. Salsa is a lot about learning and understanding how the body of a person moves. Doing so can be difficult when a person is fully concentrating on following the movement of the teachers, making a small talk with their dance partner and trying to not look like a fool in front of the whole class, all at the same time.  Dancing by their own self can aid people to internalize what they have learnt, and allow them to feel comfortable in their own skin.
