Customers frequently question us, as a supplier of stainless steel pipe fittings and flanges in China, “What is the difference between Hastelloy C22 Pipes and C276?”
These two alloys actually have very little differences between them and are practically identical.
C22 vs. C276 Hastelloy
Hastelloy C22, UNS N06022, W.Nr.2.4602, and NiCr21Mo14W are examples of Alloy C22.
Hastelloy C276; UNS N10276; W.Nr. 2.4819; NiCr16Mo15W are examples of Alloy C276.
a) In Element Components
57Ni-16Mo-16Cr-5Fe-4W-2.5Co-1Mn-0.35V-0.08Si-0.01C are the primary components of C276.
C22:56Ni-13Mo-22Cr-3Fe-3W-2.5Co-0.5Mn-0.35V-0.08Si-0.01C's Primary Components
As can be observed from the foregoing, Mo and Cr are the only two primary components whose contents change slightly from Ni, Fe, and Co.
When it comes to corrosion resistance, Hastelloy C22 outperforms C276—which can be thought of as an enhanced version of C276.
b) In Welding Material
ERnicrmo-4 welding wire and enicrmo-4 welding rod are the welding materials for C276.
ERnicrmo-10 welding wire and ENicrmo-10 welding rod are the welding materials for C22.
Price of Hastelloy C22 vs. C276
The welding supplies for C276 are simpler to locate when making a purchase. There are just one or two inventory shops for the welding supplies for C22.
Utilization-wise, C22 outperforms C276. However, those two can be applied in the majority of situations.
Due to a minor changes in their components, those two are almost identical in terms of material cost. Additionally, since C22 has a lower density than C276 does, its price should have been lower. C22 costs more because it can't be made and delivered in large quantities, nevertheless.
