- By road: Rishikesh/ Haridwar, the main point of departure for the road route to Kedarnath, is vital. During the summer pilgrimage, buses transport pilgrims through Rishikesh and Haridwar to Kedarnath. Gaurikund is located close to the National Highway 109 and is the closest location to Kedarnath Temple. Uttarakhand Transport Corporation provides direct bus service between Delhi and Gaurikund. Inter-state buses pass through Gaurikund as well, connecting it to Srinagar Rudraprayag and Rishikesh. Regular buses to Gaurikund are easily accessible for pilgrims in the morning. To get there, first, you need to go to Rishikesh/Haridwar, and then you can take a bus/taxi to Kedarnath.
- By train: Kedarnath has no railway station. Rishikesh, approximately 210km from Gaurikund, is the nearest railway station. Rishikesh railway station has daily trains and is well connected to all major Indian cities. The rail station is accessible by bus and taxi from Gaurikund. You can hike 16 km from Gauri Kund up to Kedarnath on horseback, on foot, or by helicopter.
- By plane: It is possible to fly one hour from Delhi, approximately 239 kilometers from Kedarnath, to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. To begin your journey towards Kedarnath, you have the option to hire a cab or take a taxi. Delhi is the nearest International Airport. The Uttarakhand government also offers Heli charter services. You need to book ahead and board the charter at either Phata or Guptkashi. This will take direct you to Kedarnath.
