For many decades, the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare sector have been flooded with products that combine a host of chemicals and ingredients to deliver the expected results. However, as people are now becoming more health-conscious and looking for healthcare products that are safe and environment-friendly, there is now an increased demand for Ayurveda products in all sections of society.

Ayurveda has a long history in India and during ancient times, it was the dominant form of medicine for all kinds of health issues. It was believed that the knowledge on medicine that is present in Ayurveda has been obtained from the Gods themselves. Mystics in ancient India used meditative practices to connect with Brahma or the universal consciousness and learned about the techniques and practices of Ayurveda.

Many of the herbs and plants that were used for making Ayurvedic medicines and treatments are used even to this day. There were also certain other plants and natural resources used in Ayurveda that have been described in the Vedas. Even when Islamic invaders such as the Mughals came down to India and brought their knowledge of Unani medicine with them, the practices of Ayurveda still flourished across the country. As India has always been a country that focused on maintaining its traditions, for the longest period Ayurveda was the prime way of treating different kinds of ailments and keeping the body pure and healthy.

As the British traders of the East India Company came to India and paved the way for a cultural intermingling between the east and the west, many British people tried to impose their ideas of medicine upon the people of the country. With the introduction of Western Medicine ideas, came the first rudimentary structures of what would evolve later to become modern mainstream medicine in India. The British people were unable to understand the ancient Ayurvedic wisdom of India as it was highly different from the worldview and ideas of their own. With the dominance of western medicine, Ayurveda was limited to pockets of society in India where people preserved their ancient culture and used Ayurvedic practices to ensure positive health.

With the dawn of the 20th century, many people from the west took an active interest in studying Ayurveda, Yoga, and the ancient Indian culture. The increased materialism of the west turned many people to eastern Mysticism and interest in Ayurveda grew among them. Much further research work into Ayurveda helped people to understand their benefits and now Ayurveda is popular not only in India but also in all other parts of the world. Such developments have now made it possible for an Ayurveda products-based company to be the first Brand Icon of India. Popular Ayurveda products include Chyawanprash, honey, turmeric capsules, ghee, herbal oils, amla juice, Brahmi tablets, aam pachak churna, and others. With so much widespread acceptance of Ayurveda products, it is now perfectly possible for a company making these Ayurveda products to become the first Brand Icon of India.
