The Queen of hills – Shimla, hardly needs any introduction, it’s a place where you can $nd a Mecca of city people being astounded PREVIOUS POSTwith the beauty. The town welcomes thousands of tourists on a daily basis to enjoy the chilling weather in the summers, witness snowfall in thewinters, and $ll up their pocket with happiness in spring and autumn. As Himachal is known as the land of Lords, I planned to visit one of the most beautiful temples in the state capital – Jakhoo temple.Jakhoo temple, the temple of Hindu deity – Lord HanumanThis temple is situated over the small hill called Jakhoo, this is the reason, it is given the name Jakhoo temple. Most of the towniesbelieve that this temple holds the footprints of Lord Hanuman when Lakshmana was injured during one of the battles with Ravana, the priest who diagnosed him asserted that he will only get cured by Sanjeevni Booti, then Lord Hanuman 0ew all the way to theHimalayas to $nd the Sanjeevni Booti. As he was unaware of the exact curing ayurvedic Sanjeevni Booti, so the lord took the wholeHimalaya Parvat with him. It is believed that when he went back to keep the HimalayaParvat, then for sometime he rested at theJakhoo hill and the top of the mountain got 0attened due to Lord Hanumans’ weight.I and my friend visited Shimla for our interview, which was near the mall road, so we had some spare time before heading towardsour respective places. We randomly decided to take a short trek towards Jakhoo.

Before heading towards the trek we were pretty terri$ed by monkeys. I’ve heard a lot of stories about them like they snatch yourstu3 when you come across them. Most of the people are petri$ed to trek further because of this reason, well the good news isthat the cab service has been started by the Himachal government, which helps all the devotees to reach their destination. (Hipster Tripster )The electric cab is running from ridge to the temple, the locals told us about the cab service but we were almost halfway and againthe locals over there motivated us to continue the trek further so I and my friend decided to walk instead of taking the cab. It wasan amazing journey. We had a conversation with the street vendors, which was indeed hilarious one because we are mad whentogether. The temple is 2.5 km from the ridge and it has the statue of Lord Hanuman which is 108ft. It can be seen from the ridge itselfcovered with deodar trees, which catches the eyes of every visitor. After reaching the base, we had to climb up the stairs, and if youare alone you’ll surely $nd a lot of company there, the apes, they are permanent residents. Well, reading this might give somepeople chills, but they’re harmless until teased.Pro TipDo not wear your eyewear or hold phones, as they snatch them. The temple is pristine and is painted with orange (the color of Lord Hanuman) and white color. If you’re in Shimla, you should de$nitely pay a visit over there. It o3ers a tranquil view of Shivalik mountains. In addition to this, new ropeway has been introduced for the people who can’t trek. It is from the ridge to the Jakhoo temple, itgives adventure and ease to the visitors.
